OCD

But the big question is.....

What do you all think will happen if you dont do these things?
Well the picture thing I do, I think that something will happen to the kid which doesn't get all of my focus when I blink.

You must get through buckets of Optrex?

( I would put a winky face here but it may not be ideal considering (and again))

Left sock on, right sock on, left shoe/boot on, right shoe/boot on...that order. Don't know why, just noticed I did it, a bit of a habit I guess, but now I make a conscious decision to do it that way.

There are other things, but unsure whether it is minor OCD, or just being neat/tidy with things (CDs in alphabetical order), or just habit (rinsing a glass 3 times before I use it) or just because it looks cool (DVDs lined up in colour order)

I am going to make this point, in a sweeping, general sort of way.

As many of you know I do lots of things with ASD (Autism/Aspergers) and you will be unsurprised to hear perhaps that such OCD behaviours are linked to ASD.

Just take a second and imagine how panicky you would feel if you OCD behaviour was being interrupted?

Imagine if the volume was always going to odd instead of even, the photos were blurred no matter how often you blinked, no matter how hard you tried the wrong foot was always the last one off the top stair?

That is how people feel in the company of others.

Thats pretty scary if you have no control over it all dont you think?

I also have to have matching knife and fork as said earlier
The plate and drink mats we have have to be a certain way, and the lines on the have to line up with any that are in the middle of the table
Things have to be straight i.e toothpaste on shelf etc with the front facing forwards

who would freak out if the top was left off the toothpaste?

doesn't bother me, but g/f freaks out if I do it
i hate it, my mum is always doing it

i'm another even number volume botherer.
cds and dvds need to be in alphabetical order.
if i load cans of lager into the fridge, they have to be lined up perfect, label facing front, bar-codes to the left. if not, i'd rather not drink them.
i used to have the old cracks in pavement thing.
also, if one foot steps on different path surface, the other foot has to get it's 'turn'.
change in left pocket, keys in right pocket, wallet in back pocket.
in sporting derbies, both teams have to wear traditional colours. up here in hull, f.c. are black and white while rovers wear red and white. last season i sat down ready for the game and quite looking forward to it. the teams ran out and rovers were wearing their away kit of grey and orange. it completely ruined the game for me and i just couldn't concentrate. if city ran out at the swamp in an away kit, i think i'd have a breakdown.
