sorry to drag youre hopes down. well sort of. it just means that eto is near to joining city. this has been said for the last 2 weeks or so. its not really new news

Hasn't been an odds on thing for the past fortnight.

yeh but thats just the bookies.

Well for what it is worth - I am a serious gambler - and would like to think that I am qualified to commenton the change in odds..

Etoo can only be starting the new season in a very few places - 1/ us cos he signed, 2/ Barca cos he has decided to run down his contract to get a big signing on fee next year, 3/ some other club willing to pay that sort of money - - actually I cannot think of any

So yes the change to 1 / 5 is very significant - but this could be bookies just not wanting to have undue risk and therefore seeking to deter bets on CITY - but what is much more significant - given that it is probably us of Barca - is their slide out to 3/1 - that leaves the bookies open to major pain if he stays with Barca - the only other likely option!! - that is a massive shift and combined with the change in our odds - especially with big odds on the only other potential candidates likely means he is on his way

I haven't got a clue if he is signing for City or not. The odds suggest he might be.

However, in relation to the above, how can Barca sliding to 3/1 be more significant than City being cut to 1/5?

Even the most bent and tight bookmaker (like, for example, a certain rag) is going to slide out the second favourite after making a huge cut to the favourite. Especially in what is considered to be a two horse race. Moving the price of Barca (and any other longer odds options in the market) is virtually the same thing as far as the bookie is concerned. Especially is you subscribe to it being a two horse race

so eto'o has actually signed his contract today zin ? it's done and dusted ? going to be announced when ??

come on pal, I didn't hand him a bic or anything but the personal terms have been agreed.

a spanish paper indicated the same thing today, said a signing on fee was the onlything left to agree on.

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

I don't understand how the bookies are privvy to information that nobody else knows about - short of some ill-advised ITK betting from the inside.
