He can leave Barca for free after next year, so staying at the euro champions for 1 more year isn't going to devalue him. He will stay at Barca and pocket all the £20m+ transfer fee and a big signing on fee in his own pocket next year. He goes now Barca get £25m+ he gets 200k a week wage, he stays put 1 year and he gets the majority of the £25m transfer fee, big signing on fee and proberly 200k a week.
So unless we up the offer by at least £10m or Barca decide to pay him £13m of the transfer fee the deal is dead.

Thats probably what the 180 degree U turn is all about, thus far neither have agreed to pay it.
If i was City i'd just pay it, and flog as much dead wood at the club as possible to balance it out.
