Official City v Fulham thread

i think we started very well and as the pundits say n sweden we started with a good press on their start of attacks... but we lost that press halfway through the half... then Fulham got the better out of us when our tired legs started to show...

i want Jo or Evans on the pitch in second half... seems like a game that could fit them well...
 
Ben-Haim has been very solid for us this half and played very well.
Atfirst it looked like Fulham were going to have a hard time breaking us down but seem to be doing it alot down the left side now, even the goal came from the left side.
I can see us getting a result from this game.

He is a fucking weird one Hughes. Sweep was scoring freely on the wing so he moves him to the centre. Ireland scores freely and he is moved to an ineffective position. The guy is really getting on my tits.

I agree about TBH. However, unless things change I can't see us winning :-(
 
Wright Phillips has been shit why cant he look up before he passes the ball. Move him wide right in the second half. Vassel on the left for Ireland and Ireland behind Benjani who took the goal well. Fulham are there for the taking we need to pass the ball better in the second half and if Benjani gets another chance he will score again he looks up for the game today.

Vassell isn't any more of a right winger than he is a left.

Ireland clearly isn't a winger

SWP clearly isn't a centre midfielder

All their joy is coming down the left

Nothing is coming down our right because Zab is class and Vassell is doing a good job protecting him....

So with all that in mind why not....

Play Vass on the left - seen as though he can't cross, he can at least come inside and try shoot. He'll also offer good protection to Ball who is ill and shit.

Play Ireland in the centre where he can be effective (seen as though we have to dm's)

Play Wright-Phillips on the right - his natural position.



Surely if i can see this, Hughes can?

Vass on the left (offer more protection to Ball), SWP on the right, Ireland in the middle. How obvious is that?!
 
Ireland has to stop coming inside on his right-its leaving a huge gap where he should be. Bullard and Fulham have exploited this. Lets hope Hughes and his coaches notice this. It will cost us the game unless it changes.
 
Just watched Ball for their goal.

He is flat footed and then jogs back into a complete non position. I hope he never plays for us again. He doesnt care. Why should he? He is fucking shit and knows he is on his way out.
 
The players look like they can't wait to get this game out of the way so they can have a rest. Its a depressing looking team but Hughes can only work with what he's got available.I bet he can't wait to get hold of this money so he can change things up a bit.
 
TBH having a good game.Benjani playing well too.

Vassell is working hard, but we need more end product from him.

SWP needs to sort his distribution out.

Fulham are no mugs at home, hopefully we will come out and destroy them in the 2nd half though.

Is there such a thing as an end product from Vassell?
 
If Fulham get a second, this game is over, just cannot see this team getting any more than a point, and certainly not mounting any kind of energised fightback. The early goal was a godsend, just a shame Benjani didn't bang a second in on half-time.

A point will be certainly acceptable when considering the limitations of this team and Fulham's home record. Good luck lads. Hope we we get to see Berti, not seen the lad yet.

I dont think its that bad. Team have worked hard. We can sneak this. Benji has another goal in him.
 
Well I could come on here and say how shit we have been(again) but to be honest I dont expect anything else with the line up we have put out. Those expecting us to play well when we have TBH(our best player to be fair) Ball, Didi and Vass in the team are deluded. Add to this we have Ireland and SWP both playing out position and a draw looks a decent result.

Hart - has done ok but how many times do we have to watch him just watch shots fly in without even making an effort?

Ball - shocking, people say he is a better defender than Garrido well Garrido must be really shit, I have never seen a left back get dragged out of position so much, he might as well hold hands with Dunne

Dunne - Its games like this when his weaknesses are really apparant, the likes of Johnson and Zamora wouldnt get a kick against the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, Vidic, Carragher etc etc yet Dunne has not won a single ball against either striker!

TBH - Our best player so far but that doesnt say much

Zabaleta - Decent and great cross for the goal

Didi - shocking, far too slow for the Prem, shouldnt be in the team

Vinny - doing the job of at least 2 men and struggling

SWP - Poor but out of position

Ireland - Anonymous, arguably our best player this season so Hughes in his wisdom plays he out of position, looks a great managerial decision so far....NOT!

Vassell - Fucking dump, wouldnt get in most Sunday league teams yet is 1st name on the teamsheet! Wheres that sniper rifle?

Benjani - Good goal, could have had another, playing ok but still offside a lot and lazy as hell!

I think a draw is the best we can hope for the way it stands and its awful to say that when Fulham look there for the taking!
