Official City vs Portmouth Match Thread

Thoughts?

We controlled most of the game, scored AGAIN from a corner, had some chances, had a goal chalked off for no reason, and almost gave it away at the end.

This is the sort of game we would have lost last season. We didn't.Another performance which was just 'good enough'.3 out of 3 without playing well.Lets hope we start to play better against Arsenal and untied as we will be found out if we stick to this'just do enough' policy.

Since when did that matter to some on here! They love to moan!

Like I said last week....feel free to moan and come up with superior tactics to Mr Hughes when we lose..we won 0-1..so the tactics were 100% spot on..

The scorer did his job,the midfield did their jobs, the defenders did their jobs and the keeper did his job. have I missed anything ??

yes

the manager did his job

Good shout Sput. Folk would have to quick to jump on his back. Yip, good all round.

Yes, Barry's corners from the right were way above the standard we are used to from City.

I think we missed Robbie today, he does alot more creative stuff than people give him credit for. His work rate going foward and tracking back have improved another notch this season.

Last year he was a luxury we couldn't really afford to have on the field away from home, this season I believe we can....

Love how City had more English players in the starting line up than Arsenal and United combined.

I think those calling for Robinho after 60+ minutes need to wonder why Hughes would bring on De Jong instead?

We were 1-0 up and facing increasing pressure from Pompey. Robinho would have offered a little more creativity in search of our 2nd but also would have given Portsmouth an extra yard of space when attacking and therefore bringing on De Jong in place of an unusually careless Ireland meant we could control the game and hang on to our lead. Robinho is someone who should be brought on away from home when we are 2 or 3 up and need to keep our attacks flowing, not someone who would bolster the defence when were hanging onto a narrow lead.

At home, I agree with others that Robinho thrives and should definitely feature from the start against the majority of our opponents.
