no Dunne, no Sturridge, no Jo, no Benjani and Hughes said he'll be resting players. What the hell is the line up going to be? Evans up front on his own? Haim & Richards centre defence? Will Ireland, Kompany & SWP start? Is Elano & Robinho fit?

I really hope he will play Caicedo as left AM, Robinho's role. Caicedo is probably needed as sub though, for Evans.

A reminder, the squad (posted on page 3):
Man City (from): Hart, Richards, Ball, Onuoha, Zabaleta, Ireland, Wright-Phillips, Robinho, Elano, Vassell, Garrido, Schmeichel, Fernandes, Caicedo, Hamann, Evans, Ben-Haim, Logan, Kompany, Berti.

Would be nice to see new faces:
Schmeichel
Berti - Ben-Haim - Onuoha - Logan
Hamann - Gelson
*Someone* - Elano - Caicedo
Evans

I would like to see how this lineup performed:

----------------------Hart---------------------

Logan---------Onuoha-----TBH----------Garrido

-------------------Kompany (c)-----------------

SWP---------------Ireland---------------Robinho

---------------------Elano----------------------

--------------------Caciedo--------------------

But when i consider the heavy Xmas schedule i think this lineup would be a better option which utilises more of our fringe players and gives Kompany, Zabaletta, Ireland and SWP a much needed rest:

----------------------Hart (c)---------------------

Richards-------Onuoha----------TBH----------------Ball

Logan-----Hamman/Fernandes------Garrido------Robinho

------------------Sturridge/Elano----------------------

---------------------Caciedo--------------------

We need something different on the right which is why ive put Logan on the left wing, Garrido played really well when he played in midfield last season and showed alot of vision and i think he will toughen up the centre of the park which will leave us to play with more width. As we are desperately in need of a bully up front who can hold the ball up, i have gone for Caciedo because the guy is as strong as an Ox, IMO we are missing a player like this who Robinho/Sturridge/Elano can play off in their preferred positions.

Sturridge is injured, and Logan IS on your right wing. :P

I agree on Garrido, plus it would be interesting to see Zabaleta as DM (he played there before).

I do think that Zabaletta would be wasted in DM as he looks good as a wing back. I didn't know that Sturridge was injured so i would play Elano in that position.

I seem to remember Logan playing on the right but i admit to not seeing him play for a long time. Check out the links below:

Sven says: “He’s extremely quick, has good feet and although he’s not that tall he’s very brave in the tackle. He’s also good in the air, so his all-round game is important to us. It’s hard to make comparisons, but he does remind me a little bit of Ashley Cole a few years back, on the other side of the pitch.”

Grimsby recruit Man City defender
Grimsby Town manager Alan Buckley has completed the loan signing of Manchester City teenager Shaleum Logan.
The 19-year-old, who can play on the right side of defence or midfield, is to spend a month at Blundell Park.

Logan has made two first-team appearances for City this season in the Carling Cup.

He signed a three-year contract at the City of Manchester Stadium in the summer after progressing through City's successful youth academy.

Apologies Outrun, ive just seen my typo.

tonights team
Schmeichel, Zabaleta, Richards, Ben Haim, Garrido, Hamann, Fernandes, Elano, Vassell, Robinho, Evans

good to see hart, swp kompany and ireland getting a rest.

shame Jo is missing as it may have given him another chance to gain a bit of confidence.

thought MH might rest robinho but i guess he needs some match practice after being injured for a few weeks

Looks like the same formation

4-1-1-3-1 ! That is ELano, Vassell and Robinho playing behind Evans

This is ideal set-up for Elano.

Very Very adventurous formation is that's how it turns out - especially for a team away from home in Europe.

Should turn out that way with them 4 you named having freedom to attack seeing as were playing with two out and out defensive midfielders. Going to be a tough game and i don't think we'll win but i've still backed us to win 2-0 as 25/1 are top odds and too good to miss out on

Swp isn't on the bench either, i know he's being rested but i thought he would of been on the bench, not injured is he or carrying anything?, or is hughes giving him some well deserved time off

i think (i dont know) that swp has been carrying an injury since the derby when he was kicked at every opportunity.......think he deserves the rest
