Official match day thread Everton v City

Quite frankly, I cannot believe the nonsense I read on here. Anybody with an ounce of knowledge about football knows perfectly well that City will be out fought and out tackled by Everton, who always treat games with City as their own cup final. Nobody on our team will want to pick up an injury and Mario will be targetted for a straight red card, so it will be a lethargic performance. Our situation has not been helped by Mancini unwisely saying that we only need 4 points, implying that we can leave it to our last two games. Has he forgotten that Bolton have only lost twice at home all season, have just beaten Arsenal and have in Sturridge a striker in excellent form and with an axe to grind. Woe is me. We are doomed I tell you.

what a depressing fucking post keep it too urself next time please lol. ps 1-2 city :)

If Zaba, NDJ and Carlos are fit(I assume Micah is fit by now?):

--------------------------Hart------------------

Micah------Kompany------Lescott----Zaba-

-----------------------De Jong------------------

-----------------Toure---------Barry------------

AJ----------------------------------------Silva----

------------------------Carlos---------------------

If not:

--------------------------Hart------------------------

Micah(or Boyata)---VK----Lescott-----Kolarov-

------------------------Barry-------------------------

----------------Toure-------Milner------------------

AJ-----------------------------------------------Silva-

-----------------------Dzeko------------------------

I can accept the fact that Everton are on a good run (statistically better than City in 2011) but that needs to be balanced against the finer detail.
Fact is that City are just coming back to full strength and are building a head of steam in the close out of the season.
Everton are undoubtedly a good side that has given us the run-around in recent seasons but every City player is now inspired by the potential of a place in our FA Cup final side (everyone will be pumped full of adrenalin and 100% focussed in the hope of being in the first 11 for that one). Added thought is that the Champions League is now in our grasp and that's set against the fact that Mancini will be bringing in new players in the closed season.
All players know that they must fight to prove themselves or perhaps be faced with a new player coming in to challenge for their position . . and even players who might be leaving know full well that their performances in these last few games will do much to influence their choice of new clubs and set their price and ergo earnings for future seasons.

Everton have pride to play for while every City player has that and so much more to bring out the best in them!

Fuck the history - that's all about what was. . . look to the actual situation we're now in and you'll know every City player will play with 100% commitment and absolute application.
Despite the much quoted statistics, IMO if Everton beat us today it'll be a miracle because our boys will not slack off at any point.

Everton 0 City 3 . . . Let's have it loud and proud - Come on City!

-- Sat May 07, 2011 11:27 am --

For all those focussed on statistics, I should add that: it's still statistically possible (and actually within the bounds of realism) that we finish 3rd [not 4th], with an FA Cup win as a bonus and the rags finish 2nd with a thrashing by Barca in the CL Final to rub it in.

I'm not putting money on that but if it does happen I'll be chipping in towards the banner that points out the fact that the rags will be without a trophy in this season when they start the next. . lovin' it!

Looking forward to the game and cant wait to give Lescott a good booing!

I think it will be a good game and think we'll win (again) ;) I think most of your players will have an eye on the FA Cup final and wont be going in for tackles similar to when we played at Goodison two years ago and you beat us 2-1 we'd just secured our place in the FA Cup final and 5th spot was safe.

I think we'll line up

Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines
Coleman Osman Rodwell Arteta
Cahill
Anichibe

Not as strong as it could of been due to injuries. Cahill and Arteta are also way out of form, Arteta has been a massive let down this year which reflects in our lowly 7th position when we hoped to be fighting it out for 4th spot with you lot.

I'm going for a 2-0 Everton win with Lescott crying :)
