Official: Raheem Sterling Signs On 5 Year Deal

Raheem Sterling: Manchester City signing ready to challenge
Raheem Sterling says he is relieved to have completed his protracted £49m move from Liverpool to Manchester City and is ready to consistently challenge for major honours.
The England winger, 20, believes that he will improve as a player at Etihad Stadium after becoming his country's most expensive footballer ever.
"I'm just glad it's all over and done with and I can't wait," Sterling said.
"The more quality players around you, the more quality it brings out in you."
Sterling had been under contract at Liverpool until 2017 but turned down a £100,000-a-week deal to extend his five-year stay at Anfield.
Liverpool rejected a number of offers from City before accepting a bid.
Sterling, who joined Liverpool from QPR in 2010, paid tribute to three Reds managers he has worked under, as well as agent Aidy Ward, who said in May that Sterling would not sign a new deal at Liverpool even if offered "£900,000 a week".
Raheem Sterling: From QPR to Man City's new £49m player
"The thing that excites me the most is the world-class squad we have and knowing we have a team that is capable of winning things year in, year out," Sterling said.
"I'd like to thank Rafa Benitez for taking me to Liverpool as a 15 year-old - that was a massive step for me and a new challenge. Also to Kenny Dalglish for showing such faith in me and putting me in at such a young age.
"I want to thank Brendan Rodgers for giving me a chance and an opportunity in the first team, and giving me a real chance to cement a place in the first team and show the world my talents.
"Finally, I'd also like to thank all the people around me - my mum and sisters, my management team and Aidy Ward for helping me focus and get where I am today."

He's only 20 years old and has had enough stick and stuff thrown at him from virtually everyone at Liverpool. He looks like he can take it in his stride and once hes trained up with our squad for a while he will show us wat a quality player he is glad we signed him.

He'll probably foul it up by crashing his chrome plated Lambourghini on Alan Turing way in the next 6 weeks ;-)

I'm gonna remember that one lol

You could be forgiven for thinking that the amount of tools that get on telly
I must admit I always like that Rag fan who was constantly on when Moyes was there. That fucker gave me hours of fun with his ranting and raving ... can`t remember his name now,but he was a southerner (aren`t they all) but IMO very funny especially when they got beat.

Shame for the lad that such a pleasant and classy statement will be lost on the masses as it isnt sensational enough. Nice sentiment, which sounds meaningful and honest, that he didnt have to say

I think the taking it in his stride but turning into a different person once angry is telling. I've said before that he's a player which I love, he plays his game, he's full of confidence. Each and every defender in this league should be very nervous when they come up against this boy this season, especially Liverpool. He's going to be a man on a mission. He's going to win our young player of the year as well as the leagues (unless Kyle Walker plays more than ten games, nobody can compete with him). He'll be in double figures for goals & assists (Sterling, not Walker).

its mostly imo about respect. I am a lot older than you and remember Liverpool when they were good. to me they were flawless and even though a rival at the time you respected them. I remember them selling Rush I thought thank fuck for that, I think they still won the league that year only to buy him back the following year. my first thought was "bollocks" we've had it now. of course the rags were shite, they hadn't signed howard webb and the piss can had'nt bribed or bullied other refs. Liverpool commanded respect. clem, jimmy case, cally and of course one of the best players ever to grace the game Dalglish. all top top players. then the hurt set in, the self entitlement set in, the unacceptence that football moves in cicles set in. you lot don't like that. you are Liverpool , you are entitled, you have istory. well guess what? there is a new kid in town, as there will be when our star loses its shine. that's football. what you lot did at klanfield last year was nothing short of a disgrace. I don't know if you could hear it on the telly but your players booed our every move, our every touch. players like aguero, silva and co, class players who grace our league, players we are priveldged along with the hazards etc that we lucky to have in our country. what do you lot do? fucking boo. so you fluke a win, a win that took you the brink of being champions. what do you lot do? you brick our coaches, yep, no thoughts about who might be on that coach, kids, women , anyone at all, you bricked it anyway. that after a win. god knows what you murdering racist bastards would have done had you lost.
people often call Manchester united scum, I've done it myself, but mark my words when it comes to scum you lot(maybe not you I hasten to add) are the lowest of the low.
I hope this clears it up for you.
oh and please nick 4th from the rags.

You miss my point I think. I'm not talking about how you feel about Liverpool fans or united fans for that matter. I've just been on the Chelsea fan board and they are the same regarding Spurs or arsenal (and United and us)
Cunts this..hate that

I just reflecting as to why we are all so unbelievably bitter and hateful. I'm not suggesting we down tools hug trees and watch Wimbledon I'm just wondering why there is so much hate around something that, let's be honest, is trivial

(Remind me it's trivial when you score in the 93rd at Anfield and I launch a pint glass at the TV..as I said it's a bit different on match days lol)

Just watched the interview. Main thing that struck me was just how excited the boy looks, you could see it in his eyes and how he could hardly keep a smile off his face. Its clear that his mum is key driving force in his life and what struck me was when he said something like "she is hoping I buckle down now" which to me suggests the laughing gas fiasco's will not be a problem and he just wants to do well for himself and his family. We will certainly benefit from this I can not wait to see him against Chelsea in the newly improved Etihad with 55,000 cheering him on. COME ON RAHEEM. CTID

I think he's realised where he is now at. where would a player rather play? with yaya , aguero, vinny, silva zabba and hart or Henderson, sturridge, llana and minulet and can. it was a no brainer for the lad.

I have been watching Manchester city for 50 years and I have never had any mither off any fans, often having a beer both before and after the game. when we won the title v QPR we went for a celebratory meal, in there were united fans and to a man they were gentlemen.they had reason to be sore but they were polite and accepting to our win. complete contrast to your lot even after a win.
I don't hate Chelsea fans, spurs fans or whoever just you lot. Everton fans get a mention only because they are also scum, mini scum but scum all the same. odd that.
