Just looking at the vid on the official site - I don't think I have ever seen anyone do what Hutch did that day - i.e. run from the end of a wall he was supposed to be on to the far side of it and then obstruct the goalie's view and stand on his own in the middle of space. Bizarre. What was he thinking of?

If I remember correctly he heard them discussing the free kick an decided to get in quick to block it.

Hoddles statement that it was going in anyway was the lie of the century, must have been gods orders

I was just 15 that day and was stood behind you goal, right in line with the flight of the ball. I can still see the ball bounce in. Gutted as I also had a great view of Hutch's brilliant goal in the first half.

I think I remember that city were very concerned about a Hoddle free kick and considered putting someone on the far post.

very good on the wing Tommy, only player to score for both teams in a cup final at the time :-(

I was behind the goals at that end only, 15 at the time and made a big blue white flag.. It was fantastic, stewards didnt stop me from taking the flag in on a pole and nobody behind me said "put that flag down"... How things have changed. It was a sea of blue and white that day singing "dreaming of a blue wembley".

Now wembley is shite, not the same at all.
