Now it's clear why his father pushed for the move so hard all along. Mindblowing sums of money, this and Hazard agent fee has shocked me to the point where I genuinely fear for football. That amount bought a Michu and Benteke ffs!

Wow, if that is true then it's Isco looking out for family interests.

I think Guillem Balague said on Revista that Isco did not have an agent so it's obvious his father was doing the deal on his behalf.

Absolutely. I've no doubt that Isco would've been a great acquisition from City, and he may well do very well at Real. That said, I'm not keen in general on acquiring players for whom money is so important (albeit indirectly, in this case). I've no objection to paying market rates for the top players but when you see this kind of thing (and Hazard was obviously a similar case) you do feel a significant degree of concern over the player's motivation.

In the long run it has to be right to target deals like the Navas and Fernandinho ones where, by all accounts, the player really wanted to come and wasn't demanding sweeteners of this nature. I might add that, as far as I understand it, that's how [spits] United have always operated and it's the right approach, in the long run
