Read through their bond issue statement a while ago. As part of the bond issue the investors had to signup to provide a credit facility of £75 million in order for United to remain competitive or they wouldn't get their money back. Obviously it would be foolish to use the facility without selling players given it draws interest but they have upto an absolute maximum of £75 Million available to borrow if needed and this is over 6 years! If they want more they have to sell players.
