Watson, Doyle and Tommy Booth...........they were all top players...........hard to distinguish who was the best........................

i would have to go for Watson...........but Doyle was the biggest blue on the pitch we had

Dave Watson's stay with us was all too brief.

Anyone remember him being interviewed by Brian Moore whilst receiving stiches to a head wound with out so much as the bat of an eyelid? The man was made of 30% basalt, 30% reinforced concrete, 30% tempered steel and 10% kryptonite. One of the gentle giants of the game, but when he made a tackle it was as though there was a crack of thunder in the air.

Made people such as Vinnie Jones and Roy Keane look like those twins off X Factor.

if only we had a Dave Watson type centre half today..........one of my favourite players of the last 30 years

and a header against Ipswich i think nearly broke the netting...........fantastic player.....

Dave Watson and Dave Ewing. Unbeatable. These players only come around every fifty years. We've another twenty to wait.

The Ipswich game was my first visit to Maine Road and and i still have a clear image in my mind of Dave leaping above everybody else and banging it in from a good distance out. I also remember the loan Ipswich fan jumping up in the Kippax when Ipswich scored only to disappear again in a see of fists.

I was in the Noth Stand when Watson powered that header into the goal sat level with the crossbar and when he connected with it we all instinctively ducked.

We never ever replaced Watson in my opinion.........
