OK, let's be realistic

Being realistic, I’m not sure that we’ll sign anyone in January. Just down to availability rather than intention.
Surely there are 1 or 2 players out there who can come in and give us some fresh impetus? I know it’s a difficult window but we’re in desperate need of something to kickstart the second half of the season.

We talk about lack of signing being good enough. Phillips being one to help give Rodri a rest.
Perhaps good players don't want to play second fiddle to our first choice players. These players are big players in their team, playing regularly don't want to come to City and warm the bench.
Perhaps players are wary of coming seeing what happen to Phillips, who knows.
It's clear the depth and quality of our squad isn't there and I can see academy players who are warming our bench wanting to leave for first team football soon.

It's a tricky one to keep everyone happy

Indeed. It’s probity more down to chance than planning.

We just happened to have a squad for a few years around the Centurions, Fourmidables, the down season in 2019-20, then the two title wins in 2020-21 and 2021-22, who were more than happy to rotate and play as a squad, not playing every single game.

Maybe we’ve not been able to find players with that attitude since, just be pure chance.

Everyone could see we needed recruitment and then we didn’t replace Alvarez! I said at the start of the season we wouldn’t win the title possibly the CL because it’s roll of the dice, the last 7 years as a supporter have been exhausting apart from the 100 points nearly every title has come down to the wire, it’s been exhausting to watch, Christ that Spurs game last season was horrendous especially when Son went through, can you imagine playing in thise games knowing the tiniest mistake could lose you the title, Akanji should’ve bought Ortega a huge Xmas present for that save alone. The board should’ve seen all this last season was an overachieving year the team were on fumes, had we beat Madrid we wouldn’t have won the league, so you have a word with Pep and increase squad size or you buy and sell others to refresh the squad, we did neither, that’s on them.
Spot on about the exhaustion

I remember coming home from the Tottenham game and feeling as though I'd played the full 90 minutes.

My old colleague went to the game yesterday. He was a neutral fan spending Christmas with families nearby. His seat was next to the away side dugout. He said he was genuinely worried about Pep's mental health. It looked as if the life had been sucked out after Villa scored the first. Regardless Pep is staying or not the club should intervene and provide some emotional support to him and the team. It does not look right.

100 %.

Health above football .

I don’t really buy that about needing to finish top 4. The fact we’re won it recently and have Pep will attract the right kind of player who wants to lead our next generation in my opinion.
