Old firm vs Championship top sides

They just don't have the money to compete. That's it, it's about money, absolutely nothing else. Thanks Sky.

Bigot brothers - top half of Championship
Rest of the SPL top 6 - mid-table/bottom half Championship
SPL Bottom 6 - Somewhere in League 1
That's about right, although i think both halves of the OF at the moment would probably be PL/Championship yoyo types.

Now you know what the other clubs in Scotland must have felt like as Celtic and Rangers carved the cash up between them.

Cheers. But that just emphasises my point. He couldn't hack it down south, after being outstanding for Celtic. No way would either of the old firm be competitive in the Premier League, if they ever worked their way up the league pyramid.

they also think that because they buy sky, they are then entitled to some of the money and join the prem.

this argument goes round and round.

they also think that everyone will abandon the clubs they support and follow rangers or celtic if they were both allowed in the prem.

This is not even up for debate. The championship is a much higher level to the spl glorified Pub league. Championship has the 6th highest attendance of all European leagues same revenue. The best spl players see the championship as a huge step up, much better football higher wages bigger clubs chance of playing in the promised land of the prem.

The old firm are very weak these days one off matches they give prem sides a go over the course of a season they would struggle to stay in the championship IMO.

A ''nail on the head'' moment. Excellent post.

Whenever the Old Firm is mentioned in the same breathe as the Prem relegation never gets factored in. Thus the reason it will never happen. Can you imagine the outcry if one or both dropped league after league into non-league obscurity ?
