Years ago I loved reading books about the stars.
This week I have binged read books about them again.

They were SO talented. They could act, dance, sing or whatever. Not all of them admittedly, but many.

My favourites, for their sheer versatility and/or individuality were Judy, Cagney, Gene Kelly, John Garfield, Cary Grant, James Dean, Bette Davis.

Some good names in there. Although Davis was supposed to be a real *****. I'd chuck in James Stewart and Ingrid Bergman in there.

And yes; I'm aware that Bergman wasn't as angelic as she was portrayed.

Gene Kelly was my mothers favourite, and Danny Kaye.

Mario Lanza was her choice of hollywood singer and Howard Keel her crush :)

I love that era of Hollywood, I got it from my parents, they were big film fans.
They were all up to all kinds of shenanigans, (the stars, not my mum and dad)
People often assume a certain amount of restraint was happening at the time, compared to modern times.
I'd argue a lot went on we never found out about.
Out of interest, what books have you recently read?

Kindle Unlimited mostly. Loads of good free, and up to date, stuff on there. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality.

Going back a bit further, I'd add Kaye, Hope, Crosby, Clooney, Vera-Ellen, Astaire, Rogers, Reynolds etc.

Yeah, been reading a quotes book today. Davis certainly didn't hold back. The feud between her and Crawford was legendary. I can't remember now but it might have been Davis that said the only lead Crawford didn't sleep with was Lassie. I'm happy to be corrected on that though
