One of our friends used to run a youth theatre project in Manchester. He would sometimes bring local minor TV celebs to the Junction. One time there was a rumour that Paula Wilcock was due to visit the pub.

The landlord’s wife, a bit worse for the drink, burst into the bar and demanded to know with a classic Spoonerism ‘Where is this Waula Pilcock then!’

Drinking too much Holt’s beer sometimes led to Holtszeimers….

I’m not sure why I think this now but I’ve always believed the story went that he got the 4 am knock on the Monday morning after The Mirror came out.
