Old Maine Road photos thread

Make that far right, not left. Too much drink again. number 3 looks like Alf Wood with Mike Batty facing him. certainly Cliff Sear should be no. 3. Very interesting photo
Mike Batty?
Wow!

I've just had to google him.

A bit before my time, but I thought I knew all the names. Obviously not.

It’s a bit of a challenge given the camera angles. I would assume that this was in the first half of the 1963-64 season. Many of the below are wild guesses.

Back row (from left to right):

George Hannah, Neil Young, Harry Dowd, and possibly David Wagstaffe. It looks like Derek Kevan hiding at the back. The one with the number 9 shirt could be Paul Aimson.

Front row:

Barry Betts, Alan Oakes, and Joe Hayes.
I reckon that's Dave Bacuzzi next to George Hannah.

It's 100% Gomersall mate put his name in Google and you will see his picture, also Sear was tall and thin.

I have to disagree (for now). I'm 99.99% sure that Vic is next to Waggy.

Cliff Sear was thin... Could it be Dave Bacuzzi?

Just checked. Dave Bacuzzi signed at start of 64/5. May be a bit late if pic is 63/4.

It seems The Chase raised the connection between Maine Rd & the US state today (though I missed it, so not certain how the question appeared). It prompted a lot of people to search for the story and an article I researched/wrote has been getting a lot of reads as a result. So if you want to know about how Maine Rd got its name have a read of this free article:

Thanks. Oh, and lots of great Maine Road photos all over my site - I did a 100 days of Maine Road photos/stories to commemorate its centenary in 2023. This links to some of them:
