English League Division One match at Maine Road. Manchester City versus Southampton. One that got away from City. Colin Bell City forward beat Southampton keeper Eric Martin & scored but the ref blew his whistle for offside. November 1969.

Youth Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg, Manchester City v Manchester United, Manchester United's George Best turns to celebrate after the ball had crossed the line for a fluke goal, With a lead of 4-1 from the Ist Leg the United Youths increased their lead to 5-1 when they scored this fortunate 2nd goal, George Best, left, forced his way through but was unable to get his shot in and the ball rolled gently towards the goal line, Wood could have cleared the ball but Mike Doyle sliding in to clear could only push the ball over the line

That 1958 Everton game was my very first game at first team level at Maine Road having only ever seeing reserve team games before. I only remember the scoreline and going back home crestfallen, the only other things I remembered was the Beswick Prize Band and the size of the crowd! Somewhat different from a couple of thousand for the Central League fixtures.
