Old songs

There's a hole up in the ceiling
And the Stretford End is leaking
Matt Busby's got no money
Feeds the team on bread and honey
What are we living for?
(Clap clap)
To see United in Division Four.

Simple one this but not many people remember it. In the mid seventies we used to sing ccciiiittttyyyy as long as we could and then start again so everyone was singing city at different times. It sounded brilliant with ten thousand blues making a racket on the Kippax.
I've always thought it could make a comeback coz it is so simple but brilliant.
I agree. Its actually the start of the Viking chant (from the film The Vikings - I've written about it in Manchester City Folklore) and later evolved into The Best Team In The Land and All the World. The old Ccccccciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttyyyyyyyyy would go on for ages with the initial C being held for so long until it broke into the end bit. Dead easy chant and unique to us. Created by fans in 1976-77 season.

Don't forget a very similar chant that started with Oooooooooooooh and ended Fucking Hell!

To Norwich and Ipswich fans in a worzel accent

E can’t read
E can’t write
But it doesn’t matter
E don’t know is left from right
But he sure can drive a tractor

Oooh, oooh, yeah.
I love how football fans from all teams change the words to suit their history and rivalries etc.
My favourite -
Hello,Hello we are the City Boys,
Hello,Hello we are the City Boys,
And if you are a United fan,
Surrender or you die,
We all follow the City.
