Whereas the song certainly wasn't funny or clever what was amusing were the cops staring in peoples eyes trying to work out who was hissing. The song that beat any M***** song hands down for bad taste.

What on earth was going through our minds to think that was exceptable to sing that, disgusting looking back on it :+(
In the period they were sung, it was "acceptable" to show programmes such as Love thy Neighbour, Till death us do part, the Comedians, and even Fawlty Towers. Times and attitudes were certainly different. To moralise now over something that was acceptable over 50, yes, 50 years ago seems strange now if you lived through it at the time, as probably most of us on here did. What old songs don’t we sing anymore cos they’re either not relevant or considered “offensive” by today’s standards and should we bring them back once we’re allowed back into grounds?
How does that 1 go again? You’re going home in a fucking ambulance!
I remember coming back from a match and telling my Dad we'd sung that and him being absolutely disgusted with me and me finding that very funny. And the "You'll be g****d by 5 o'clock" one as well. Can't belive we did that and when I tell my (adult) lads now they are just as appauled as my Dad was back then. What on earth was going through our minds to think that was exceptable to sing that, disgusting looking back on it :+(
Edited for accuracy."Sing something simple,
You simple twats".
For some of us it never went away. ;-)We can also resurrect this season the " we all fucking hate Leeds " song
I found myself singing it the other night. For some of us it never went away. ;-)
The original" Sailing" by Rod The Mod was on NOW 70s a few days ago. I found myself singing along but with the City words in place of the original words.I know it gets an airing occasionally but I’d love “We are City, super City, we are City from Maine Road” to become a regular.
Slight variation city is our name city is our name 35 years and won fuck all love them just the same35 years and we're still here
We love the club and we love the beer.
