Is that the York away crowd?Just spotted this classic photo online and it really got me thinking about how life has moved on.
Just over 40 years ago but feels more like ten lifetimes.
I was there in the maine stand just to the right of the photo near the directors box. I'd made my way over from windy corner in the top left of the photo across the pitchJust spotted this classic photo online and it really got me thinking about how life has moved on.

I wasn't! I was 5. Had been to my first game a couple of months earlier (v Boro), but my dad wouldn't take me to this one. Official story - my mum was worried as it was a big game, big crowds, loud, chance of trouble, etc. Probable reality - my dad wanted to go with his mates and have a few at the Sherwood before and after.I was there....

Think it was given as 47000 but felt like significantly more than that. What did Swales say the attendance was? The Kippax still looks rammed and there must be at least 10000 on the pitch!
