I was there in the maine stand just to the right of the photo near the directors box. I'd made my way over from windy corner in the top left of the photo across the pitch
Remember walking back to town up Wilmslow Road and Oxford Road with a procession of cars slowly making their way beeping their horns and waving flags
Is that the queue for the chips

What did Swales say the attendance was? The Kippax still looks rammed and there must be at least 10000 on the pitch!
No chance, far too few people in that photo.

I wasn't! I was 5. Had been to my first game a couple of months earlier (v Boro), but my dad wouldn't take me to this one. Official story - my mum was worried as it was a big game, big crowds, loud, chance of trouble, etc. Probable reality - my dad wanted to go with his mates and have a few at the Sherwood before and after.
Can imagine him telling your Mum about the numerous run ins with Charlton's boys.

Good spot - 5 points. If anyone was concerned, it's not a nod to a profession/hobby!
It's a great record. The album came out when I started posting on the other man city forum in 2004 (if I am allowed to mention it here!), so I went with it. Came on here too a couple of years later and stuck with it.
Don't think Ric needs to be too worried about the competition though, there tumbleweeds on the other forum when I last looked a couple of years ago.

The Charlton 5-1 promotion game, is it? I was at that game, in the corner between the Kippax and Platt Lane stands. A great day. At the end of the game, stewards helping people over the railings onto the pitch. Then I got home and saw the tragedy at Valley Parade.
