I was at Oldham from 85-90 and trained on the plastic pitch every Monday. Always remember the ball covered with what looked like grit, when it was supposed to be sand.Not that great.. they had a dodgy plastic pitch which they trained on every day and knew like the back of their hands. Gave them a ridiculously unfair advantage at boundary park
They had a trick that they would leather the pitch with more sand or less sand, depending on who they was playing at weekend.
More sand and the ball lands dead, less sand and the ball would skim off the surface.
Got some great memories of Oldham, my cousin played in the first team for 6 years too, am sure he's gutted with their plight.

Yep - a semi final I think - Kanchelskis was unplayable unfortunately.Who; Oldham, or Trafford's finest?
I played on it about 3 times. Every time I ended up with terrible friction burns which took weeks to heal.
