Could you imagine Mendy putting in a performance like zinchenko last night? Not a chance. He is our best option in this position by far and gives us great balance across the back line. Deserves his plaudits.

For10 mins I thought he was Agent Oleks. After that, he settled down. I think it helped him to play in front of Pep in that first half to settle himself and not only regain his composure, but go on to have a strong, steady game.

He is our best defensive LB, which is an issue considering he plays in CM for his country, and does it quite well!!!

Had a bit of a ropey start, but was excellent after that. So composed on the ball.
For me, he’s comfortably our best left back. Makes us a better team.

Been quite impressed at how well he’s doing in aerial duels this season. Seems to have greater upper body strength and challenges with more confidence. In some ways his technique resembles that of Fernandinho.

He was suspect in the first half but grew into the game as it went on as they got more tired. I think him not going to Wolves in 2018 was a lucky break for us as he's made a big contribution since then.

Shaky start, due to lack of 1st team game time, but grew into the game. Always looks comfortable on the ball, and good passer of the ball. Quick as well. Offers more than Cancelo. Nothing against Cancelo.

Aleks makes up for a lack of ability with sheer guts and determination. As others have said he grew into the game

There was a lot of responsibility put on him last night. He was given a hell of a lot of the ball.

After a shaky start, he grew into the game.

A cracking performance. The best left back at the club!

He had an excellent game, some of his one touch passing in tight situations was top class. Posters often refer to his "lack of ability", what specific abilities are being questioned ?. He is not tall, he is light and not the fastest runner in the team, but they are not abilities they are physical attributes. He can pass, tackle, dribble, head, cross, read the game, well enough to play in a Pep team at a top level. What are these missing abilities that posters allude to, that reduce his value to the club ? and need to be mentioned while giving him credit.
