Still think if we sign a new left-back it's likely Zinchenko will be back in the team by January to help turn around our bad form yet again. Eventually an opportunity to sign a world-class left-back will present itself. Or it won't and we keep Zinny. Either way is fine with me.

Think he's miles ahead of almost everyone else in that position in England and most of Europe.

Zinchenko's abject performance against Dortmund in our latest CL tie is pretty much on par for what I think of him - an OK backup - but a huge potential liability where we need a first class left back to start in important games.

Zinchenko is weak under pressure - prone to giving the ball away. He's not a natural left back and thus makes positional errors. Going forward he's good if not pressed - but is far below our squad average if under pressure.

I like the guy - he seems to me to be satisfied with his role as backup and contributes a lot when we need to rest star players.

But he's no where near good enough to start against quality opposition when we need a win.

Other than giving the ball away three or four times in the first ten minutes I thought he had a good game.

So if you don't mind could you explain how you came to the conclusion Zinchenko was abject against Dortmund?

Except that several of his give aways nearly led to opposition goals.

John Stones - by way of example - (who seems to have overcome this issue) was rightly crucified because of this.

Zinchenko is a liability on defense - on offense when under pressure he's going to pass the ball backwards for safety...

Going forward - under no pressure - Zinchenko is capable of delivering a killer pass - as are most players in the EFL Championship/League One and so forth.

I value Zinchenko for his ability to provide OK backup to rest important players.

If Zinchenko plays in important matches - then we have - IMO - a big weakness in our squad.

10.08.2019 : Man City official website. "Oleksandr Zinchenko now shares the Premier League’s all-time record for successive victories with David Silva after City beat West Ham 5-0 on the opening day of the season." "It’s a remarkable feat for Zinchenko, who has won every Premier League game he has played for City, which is also the best 100% record in the competition’s history." Where did the poor lad go wrong since ?. How far across the pond have you been watching from.

Deserved to play today , bad pep
I think this may be a good sign for him. I think he is going to be our 1st choice left back from now on. Can see someone other than him (Ake,Mendy,Cancelo) playing against Villa and he will be back for the Carabao cup and PSG matches.
