Omar Marmoush

Yeah gives us good flexibility. Maybe off the left with Gvardiol overlapping.
Marmoush definitely gives us great flexibility, but he is nothing like Grealish; he doesn’t rely on an overlapping LB. Marmoush can thrive with or without an overlapping player. He’s so gifted that whether he cuts inside, tucks in, goes wide, overlaps, underlaps, or is just direct, he remains highly effective. That’s why he can play LW, RW, AM, and striker with the same intensity.

If Pep wants Gvardiol to overlap, then that’s fine—it’s ultimately his tactical vision. However, it’s not strictly necessary except for specific tactical reasons that could provide an edge Pep may have identified. Given his approach, there’s always a method to the madness, and perhaps he sees overlaps as a way to create overloads, stretch defenses, or exploit particular matchups. While it might not seem essential, Pep’s attention to such details has often been the difference-maker in high-stakes games.

Ultimate I do not think an overlapping player really adds or takes away anything from the way Marmoush operates.

I love this time of year when I get really excited about a player I’ve never heard of or seen play. But he’s got an exotic sounding name so he must be good.
