On our way to a new period of dominance?

I think most people will say we have under achieved since the take over. Domination is winning the league in style & back to back too. Looking at the Rag & Dipper teams that dominated, they regularly won the league with games to spare. When they didn't win it they were right on the heels of the teams that did, more often than not.

We should have had a period of dominance after the first league title. Nobody could match us in the transfer market & the clubs around us were already or near to floundering. We have failed to escape from the pack though.

The Rags now look like they are back on the right path & are starting to spend big. The Dippers have Klopp. Conte has took to the league like the proverbial duck. Spurs are forming the nucleous of a promising young team, strong in all areas. I think Arsenal will improve once Wenger goes. Add to this the fact that with the extra money around you are always going to have teams trying to muscle in on the top 6.

We need a massive overhaul of our defence with at least three players who will be first team regulars

We also need to replace Yaya or at least bring someone in so we can phase him out

Get these two things right and I would say yes , but it's a big if

Player recruitment is very hard to get 100% , we will be doing well to get 50%

No team has dominated English football in the past decade. When you say dominate you refer to the likes of Barca in Spain, PSG in France, Juve in Italy, Bayern in Germany and mostly, Celtic in Scotland after Ranger's fiasco.

No team has retained the title in England since 10/11. No one has even retained one of the cups since then. The top 4 has changed the last 8 seasons in a row (with a 9th this season being certain). We haven't dominated, and IMO there is nothing to suggest that trend will change imminently.

City don't do domination we like to slightly under achieve with the tools we have. This can be seen as a charming quirk or a annoying weakness The fact a lot of our fans have gone completely la la with some success means domination may not be a good thing.

rumours yaya is getting an extension

The big test will be Monaco away and the games after. We play Monaco, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in that order

I agree.

The unfortunately reality is that both Liverpool and the rags won a load of trophies when there was not the depth of competition we see today. In the 90's United could be sure of finishing at least 2nd (and usually 1st) before the first ball was kicked in August. Likewise Liverpool in the 70's and 80's. It's a lot harder to dominate now.

Semantics. We've still been the best team over the last 6 years and our league finishes are proof of that

I think we have almost re-built Mancini's team now, and are ready to push on again. We only have one rival at the moment: chelsea. Arsenal are on the verge of changing manager, and that will be difficult to manage, whilst Utd need a total re-build as their key players age.

Good post. The trophies will be spread amongst the top 6 teams from now on.
