There’s a great new Twitter account called MCFCRetro posting old highlights of City games. Brings back some great memories. Every time I see a clip I feel like starting a thread about that game, but would probably get a bit unwieldy so might be better to stick them all in one thread.

To kick things off, the 3-2 away at Blackburn in 1995. It absolutely pissed down, and looked like we might have handed the title to United, but this is one of my favourite City games from that era. A great goal from Rosler, an unexpected but much needed win, and United still blew the title. Lovely stuff.

I think, more than any top ‘keeper of his era, Tony Coton struggled with the backpass law when it was introduced.

And how was that a pen?!

Seem to remember us either having a couple of other chances in the second half, very similar to the Rosler goal. Think it might have been Flitcroft and Walsh from outside the box, either disallowed or hit the woodwork from what I can recall. Could have been a real battering in the end.

Yes, we completely dominated that second half.

Think we beat Liverpool at home on the Good Friday, then Blackburn away on Easter Monday. Six totally unexpected points to drag us out of the shit when it really mattered.

3 - 2 scoreline did us a disservice as we were so much better and let's be honest thought we were in for a tankin.

Yep awful day weather wise.

Dalglish said his post match interview something along the lines of if City player like that every week they would be in the title race

Worked for a firm on the Wirral at this time with a die hard home and away liverpool supporter
Blackburn's last game of the season was away at liverpool and the scousers were fighting each other. Half of them wanted Blackburn to win on the day to stop the rags winning the league

Coton had a groin injury which didn't help and we has a 'keeper crisis hence we got John Burridge.

The defender almost pulled Quinn's shorts off,it wasn't a soft pen, you can barley see it on those clips but you could at the game.

City did have two 1" offside headers disallowed at the end off similar left wing crosses, so they weren't helping another club.

It was that and the Good Friday win against Liverpool which saved us, and in 94 we were dead and buried until we won three in a row at easter, so there were biblical analogies.

Colin Hendry crying at the end was the best bit, even more so due to his history of an abuser now.

Coton was in goal, but yeah, Burridge played the last games of the season.
