On this day… the 1st Manchester Derby at our current home

I was in a pub full of rags. That SWP goal really hit them hard. It was a bit of a game changer. Nothing fluky about that win. We were the better team that day by a good distance.

"When we moved to the stadium Kevin Keegan worried about whether the atmosphere would be the same and I told him that fans would take a bit of time getting used to it because they were no longer sat with the people they’d been with for years. The dynamics were different."

I wish someone had listened to Keegan before they organised the first season ticket sales.

Had £20 scorecast on Fowler and 3-1 (@125/1) so SWP's screamer was a bit of a mixed-bag for me! Last minute of injury time - I'd have been the one looking a bit shell-shocked in ES3 back then. What a day though...
At 3-1 the bloke sat 2 rows in front of me was very happy. He had his betting slip out saying 3-1 and the name of the first scorer correct...... happy as Larry and waving his betting slip around - then SWP does his thing right in front of us. Everyone goes ballistic - apart from the bloke with the betting slip. Sits with his head in his hands and then rips his slip up and throws the pieces in the air.

Edit - just read the post above! Ha! This was in the family stand 2nd tier

Incroyable.

Seem to recall they scored to make it 2-1, James then booted the ball away in frustration (which is not in play) and rooney and neville ran whinging to the ref who booked him. SWPs last minute cherry on the cake was a thing of great beauty.

It doesn’t feel that long ago but today (14/3) is the anniversary of the 1st derby at the COM/Etihad Stadium. A memorable thrashing of Utd from 2004. Story etc. here:

Gary small u for utd mate

My boy was 3 days old. Having a few problems with a wobbly head , maybe blood sugar is low type scenario or so we were told by the health visitor who came the day before thought. We were waiting for the health visitor to come round again.
I went to the match as the problem didn’t look serious to me.
Wife rang me just after we were 1-0 up to say we have to rush him to hospital. I said I will meet you there. She told me she will wait for me to come home so I left the ground and went the 1 hour journey home so that we could “rush him to hospital”. It turned out new born babies have no neck muscles so their heads wobble all over when they breathe and it wasn’t a problem. We got to the hospital as the 4th goal went in.
I was gutted having to leave that game.
