On This Day 7th May 2000: Blackburn Rovers (A) Manchester City Secured Back-To-Back Promotions To Reach The Premier League:

Watched that clip and the commentator says ant the end and Manchester will be treated to at least 3 derbies next season am I missing something ?

I remember watching that in the Rising Sun pub in Hazel Grove with a load of mates. I think we were very, very drunk.

Got to recount my epic day which will never be forgotten.

In the knowledge that tickets would be gold dust, we booked a corporate trip from City through Danny Wilson for abut £100. We arrived at Maine Road early morning for a full english in one of the lounges with beer. Then we took the coach nice and early to Ewood, drinking out of bottles, but we had no bottle opener so were having to try to prise them open on walls, resuting in lots of cut mouths. Classy. Met our mates at the Fernhurst.

We had seats in the City end and at the end of the game ran on the pitch. You can see me in some of the press shots. All of my family werein the Jack Walker Stand and they were hgoing mad waving to us (although we didn't see them at the time)

Coach back to Maine Road and when we arrived there was a crowd there celectrating. They thought we were the team and mobbed the bus. We got out and there was Johnny Marr and we had a good chat with him We had a couple fo pints and sandwiches in a lounge there then got a taxi back to Didsbury. All the way up Wilmslow Road every pubn was mobbed with celebrating blues spilling into the streets. As my mate leaned out of the taxi to join in the singing someone lobbed a pint in his face which we still laugh at to this day.

Didsbury was rocking, we ended up sitting int he window of that old Irish pub watcing the celebrations on the street. At one point that night the musician was singing City songs and the whole street was joining in.

It was one of my gretest days following City. Truly epic from start to finish,

What a day. went on a coach and as we got to the outskirts of Blackburn, some Blues dumped their car, stolen from Manchester to get them to the game on the grass verge and jumped on our coach for the last few miles.

Fantastic away day. Had seats in the home stand (Riverside). Should have been dead and buried by halftime but someone was looking down on us that day!

Sun was shining all day. Carried on drinking well into the night!

Went on a packed train from town and got off in Darwin, singing all the way. Pub crawl to Ewood and then Fernhurst before and after game. Ground was half full of City, Darwin end absolutely rammed. Not many memories of the game due to being shit faced. Great occasion that day though.
