On this day - City beat the rags for the last time at Maine Road

Monufuckingmental.

Maine Rd was an unconquerable bastion that day....the most hostile, intense and endless atmosphere.

Back to The Osborne for a long, loud lock in before 8 of us piled into my car with 2 in an open boot and we careered through Fallowfield and Didsbury past pubs and forecourts packed with blues.

Monufuckingmental.
The pubs were all supposed to close after the game so you had to find lock ins or travel. We ended up having a brilliant sing song in The 4 in Hand in west didsbury, making up songs about Gary Neville.

Of course something I'd forgotten to mention was John O'Shea missing an open goal from two yards which prompted the immortal line from Martin Tyler, "Oh and it's... O'Shea!.... Oh dear..."

5:11 in this video.

I was in the block right behind the goal in the Platt Lane.... best seat in the house for O'Shea's miss, still one of the worst I've ever seen :)) Brilliant day

Everything seemed to click that day.
Remember that I was confident of a good result, which was rare then.
Was in the Platt Lane and the whole ground seemed to give the team a huge lift.
Would love to some footage again of " GNev the Startled Rabbit".
He shat himself throughout the match.
A great day...

I've been going to football for 27 years and I don't think a crowd has ever been so intent on destroying a player's game like Maine Road was for Gary Neville that day. Pure hatred. We could have lost 5-1 that day but if a Neville own goal had gone our way we'd have gone home happy. We were that committed to ruining his afternoon.

different players, owners, staff, training ground, stadium. other than playing in the same colour what connection is there to the old club?

football is now about tourist fans and overseas tv rights. the old fans (us) are marginalised

This was a day when our two first choice centre halves were injured n’all. We were fearing the worst before the game with no Distin or Howey (Dunne was still a right back that season) and Metomo and Weikens stepping in.
