Once a Blue, always a Blue !!

I'm taking my wife to the match vs West Ham tonight.
My pal has transferred his ticket to her as he's away on holiday for 2 weeks.
The last time she went to a competitive City match with me was also a night game on the 8th November 1981 vs Middlesborough at Maine Road.
We went on the Platt Lane as she was 2 months pregnant with our oldest daughter, and she didn't fancy standing on The Kippax in her condition. And I think City won 3-2 that night.
Although she did stand with me on the Kippax vs Aston Villa in 1979 when she first knew me .
And previous to that she had visited Maine Road regularly in 1973/74/75 when Rodney Marsh was her favourite player, along with Mickey Horswill.
And it will be her second visit to The Etihad tonight,as she went with me to the opening game at the stadium vs Barcelona, but that was only a friendly game.
I refuse to believe that Horswill was anyone's favourite player! ;-)

That game against Boro was my 11th birthday. Have a great time tonight!

Has she got a Brentford ticket tho ?

Hope you both enjoyed the match, and witnessing Erling scoring a historic goal is something to cherish.
I actually said that to her as we walked out of the ground. Her first match in over 40 years and she witnesses a historic goal, something that she can talk to our 4 grandsons about in years to come.

I just thought I would update my thread after last night's proceedings.
She absolutely loved being at a City match again after all those years.
She struggled a bit in the first half ,as nearly all the play was at The South Stand end and our seats are next to The North Stand. And she has cataracts on her eyes,so she couldn't really see what was happening down there.
However the second half unfolded right in front of us. She absolutely loved those 3 goals going in, and was jumping up and down like a teenager. And she commented about how much City retain possession of the ball and the opposition are just chasing around trying to get it back.
She also was well impressed with Erling, she thinks he is some kind of Nordic God, even better than Rodney was back in the day.
And as we walked across City Square to the Metro stop, she actually linked my arm ,so that she didn't lose me in the crowds walking around the stadium, something that she hasn't done for years.
I was thinking of being very gallant and laying my coat down across the puddles in City Square, but I thought that was maybe taking things too far.
Her only other notable comment was that she couldn't believe how many people were leaving at 80 minutes,so it's very noticeable to even rookie City fans.
So we are back again for the Leeds game on Saturday as my pal is still away for his 65th birthday.
I might try to teach her a few of the current City songs before then.
And best of all,she isn't pregnant after this match.
