Once again, Martin Samuel's spot on

Actually, the article is mainly about Rooney. Samuel claims that whatever side Rooney played for in the game would have won.
Not read it mate but for him to claim that is absolute bollocks

-- Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:06 am --

he's a good journo and i enjoy watching him on sunday suplerment
any good?

Nah...not one of his better ones for me. It's a puff piece about Rooney and our second half performance is the stick used to beat the rags with. And there's absolutely no need for the last two sentences.

Sorry, posted my last post before the above post with the full text of Martin Samuel's article.

You can make up your own mind as to how exactly "spot on" Samuel is.

I would ask:

Would Rooney have won the game for United if Kompany hadn't been red-carded?

Would ManU have won without Welbeck's goal?

Was Rooney's second goal - from a penalty which Pantilimon saved - actually due to Rooney's greatness?

Is Rooney so magnificent that he alone would have been the cause of victory, whichever side he played for?

Rooney is clearly the best player at ManU, and Martin Samuel is generally a pretty good journalist (far above the general standard of journalism of the Daily Mail), but I think this view of Rooney is a little OTT.

yeah, basically for the 3/4 of it he says how city will be more confident about winning the league and also he says how we should have got a draw from bad refereeing. he says that it's a strange defeat as united won't be feeling the success of it as much as even a 10 man city can't be tamed and how we had courage and this shows that city will be more confident in the league now etc.. pretty fair to be honest
oh but yeh i agree with other posters that he loves rooney to say the least though

Yes, despite the headline, it's clearly a paean of praise for Rooney - who I suspect must be Samuel's favourite player in the EPL if this article is typical.

Actually over half the article - and clearly for Samuel the most important part - is about Rooney. I wonder if there isn't a hidden hope of his that Man.City will be persuaded to buy Rooney, so that his hero/idol has a better chance of getting more EPL championship medals.

Man.City are really only background decoration for this piece of Rooney worship.

Oh we love martin but dare he say anything anti city he's a shit journo.
Everybody hates us. Bo ho

Fuck Samuel, I've somehow managed to put my toolbar on the right hand side of my laptop.
How do I get it back to the bottom where I like it?

Thanks in advance
