Just came to mind thinking about the Barcelona game next week, has any other team beaten us home and away in Europe before Barca did it last year?

Chelsea last season.

Seem to recall Arsenal's invincible team doing it in 2003. Was that the fake peno game

Just checked it, you're right. Cheers PB. Still, something we'll hopefully put right against Barca next week.

True Colin, was at both games, confident after narrow first leg defeat but we were poor at home. Poor old Ronnie Healey had a mare with the goal, shame really

I recall we had loads of injuries for the second leg. The King was out plus a few others.

We played a Danish team in the UEFA cup about 6 years ago, and lost 1-0.

A stat I remember was that they were the first team from continental Europe to beat us at home, which suggests that the answer is Barcelona were the first team from continental Europe to achieve the feat.

And the ever-supportive Football League insisted we play a rearranged league match two days before the 2nd leg, against Liverpool at Maine Rd. Liverpool also had a Fairs Cup SF to play that week and they fielded an entire reserve team. City unfortunately did play a few first teamers and IIRC Joe Corrigan picked up an injury and missed the 2nd leg,

Correct. My Dad was at the first game at Stamford Bridge and recalls it was a nightmare for the City fans that actually attended.
