Onuoha for England!

Could be....

Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback has ended his interest in calling up Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha for the World Cup in June.

The ex-England U21 international remains undecided about switching allegiance to the West African nation.

Onuoha was considering playing for Nigeria but turned them down when officials contacted him.

"Onuoha is a closed case as far as we are concerned," Peterside Idah, Nigeria media officer, told BBC Sport.

"He said he won't be available for the World Cup and the coach has had to remove his name from the squad to be announced next week.

"I guess we have done all that we could as body, it was his sole decision, and we respect that.

"I'm glad he confirmed the coach (Lagerback) had spoken to him as well, he told him the same thing and I think we need to forge ahead without him now."

The defender, who has been impressive for Manchester City this season, has already played for England Under-21s.

But Onuoha can switch allegiances as he is yet to play for the senior side.

The Manchester City defender was born in the African country but moved to the United Kingdom when he was seven.

He has been stalling on a decision on his international future to see what the likelihood was of him making a successful elevation into the senior ranks.

He was key a member of the Under-21 squad that reached last summer's European Championship final.

Still think he has to improve his hesitancy on the ball and his confidence going forward (Birmingham being the exception) However what a fantastic professional, after his run of form last season he is the one player that could of moaned and complained about his lot this season, however he has knockled down and greatly deserves the plaudits of recent weeks

Does that mean Ned has made this decision? It's not very clear.

Im going to agree on this too, if only to bump it u the page.

What a loss it could be for the English if he is allowed to slip through and represent Nigeria.

Not just a loss for England.
A loss for City as we'd lose him for the African cup of nations mid season

Yea hes a had a couple of good games recently, before he wasnt played often. Wouldnt suprise me if you changed your mind if he fucked up in one of the next games. LOL.
