Oscar Bobb | Back in first team training, again (p55)

Agree re Doku. He has bags of talent. If he kicked on he could end up as good as Dipper Salah. Equally, he could drop into obscurity. Who knows?
I do know, this season he just hasn’t produced. We can’t carry players like this and we have 3 wingers who do not do enough.
Dokus incredible at beating his man and he gets in great positions but when he gets there he needs to slow it down in his head. Everything is rushed and panicked. If he figures that out then his numbers will be insane.
fingers crossed.

Did anyone see how he and Reis played today?
I haven’t heard anything actually performance-based.

I saw Bobb's return as a key moment in the season. I don't any more because City's side is becoming completely dysfunctional. It would be very difficult for Pep to introduce Echeverri or Bobb into this side. And if you introduce Bobb it would be at the expense of Savinho.

We've been drifting for a while but there is a crisis unfolding before us.
I'd honestly forgotten about Echeverri, has there been any update on him or is he still on holiday?

I haven't watched Pep's post Brighton press conference but I don't think there have been many reports on Echeverri because he isn't on the media's radar. I have seen him in the training pictures and someone said he played in a behind the scenes friendly game.

This is a coaching issue. Sterling was the same but they calmed him down for that one great season where he scored loads of goals. Sadly he reverted to type later on. If we can slow Doku’s thinking down he will be fantastic. He needs to lift his head and pick out a player.

It's a talent issue and nothing more. If we signed a player from the Championship tomorrow from say Luton and he got 3 goals all season, it wouldn't be because of a talent issue, it would be because he isn't good enough to play for Manchester City. Look at Højlund at United - no amount of coaching is going to turn him into Haaland in terms of goal scoring numbers.

Sterling also had several consistently excellent seasons for us and the likes of Sane, Bernardo, Foden & Mahrez have all excelled when playing out wide for City under Pep at some time or other. Picking out the coaching in an area we're mostly been so strong over the years doesn't quite cover it.

In the EDS he moved infield from the wing and looked transformed, he just ran the show. I would argue against him not having any pace mind.
Yeah, i noticed in pre season and in the charity shield he’s much quicker than i thought he was.

Talent as in he can never learn to pick his head up and play the right pass? In terms of natural talent he’s got the type very few players have. The part he’s lacking should be the easier thing! You can teach composure and getting into better positions ( look at Sterling). What can’t be coached is the talent to skin defenders with ease.

Doku is 22. He's in his 2nd season in the Premier League. I remember watching Salah playing for FC Basle and he was brilliant and appalling in the same game. What was de Bruyne like at 22? I have no idea.

We are looking at this very negatively. Doku has the most successful take-ons per minute played of any player in the Premier League. The rest may come. It will help if he has support from midfield and options on the ball. If Doku was playing outside of Rodri and an on-form Foden his passing game would be better.

I am so so excited for Bobb being back. I know we shouldn't build him up too much, but I think he has the full package.

The injury was a sickener, think he was about to take the league by storm.

He's exactly what we're missing in the attack. The blend of intelligent movement, ability, composure and confidence. Think he would lift everyone around him as well.
