Pre VAR dives like this were often given as penalties , it’s a good thing that it’s pretty much been scrapped from the game right ?

That was never going to be given, the referee knew it was a dive; hence no penalty - The Dementor that is VAR didn't even get involved and it still gets a thumbs up from you.

This one may have by some refs for sure back in the day, thankfully VAR would have overruled.

Not advocating VAR for anything else. Just saying it’s massively helped reduce not contact dives being awarded as penalties. So that’s a positive

As I said VAR hasn’t been great for much else but there’s far fewer players diving untouched nowadays looking for a penalty - because they know they won’t get it.
It was getting beyond a joke prior the introduction of VAR.

Should be a straight red, imagine coming up all the way from Southampton and losing to a moment of cheating by Slippery Fishfinger feet. Or worse still they get relegated by a point they were denied, after cheating by after Salah,Kane and his Roland rat teammate the worst diver in the PL

They had VAR when the Arsenal player ran into Ederson, result yellow card for Ederson and penalty for Arsenal. They have no consistency with the use of the technology.
