Other fans view of our match day experience

I preferred the matchday experience when nothing happened and when I wasn't moved out of my seat to accommodate away fans on Champions League nights.

I'm there for the football not the cheese.

Great that away fans are loving it though because they're important!

Is that you Victor ?

I've never been to the Emirates, miles better in what sense?

I was stood next to a Mackem for the Barca game last season and he was saying the Etihad was probably the best ground he'd visited in terms of ease of access, facilities, aesthetics and general comfort.

Each fan is given more space than any other ground in the stand and the seats are very large padded leatherette seats. This applies to away fans whether they pay £26 or £64, and we got cheaper tickets when they moved their around £30 (cheaper than Highbury was), so the criticism for not catering for all price ranges is wrong.

You can walk all the away around the stadium with fences or any obstructions, and they have large toilet facilities outside (built with the ground before we had anything like that). You can drinking cans near or go to the pub right outside and they have on street parking if needed off the A1. The tube may get long queues but you are on in 5 mins unlike the trams the tubes are much more regular and they fit a lot more people on.

The concourses are comparable per person to City's and I wouldn't know about the food which probably is comparable too from the description given earlier. It is better to get away from than similarly located grounds with the tube to Cockfosters, much easier than West Ham, Spurs and Chelsea for example. Credit where it is due it is a lot better than the Etihad, and should be the amount it cost , being more modern and purpose built rather than a semi-retrofit.

I've heard grumbles that splitting the away end into 3 thin strips destroys the atmosphere in the away end

Good! They're the away fans and I hope they fucking hate it! They've had pride of place in our ground, right in the shot of the cameras, splitting our two singing sections up for 13 years. They should be sat in the worst seats, furthest from the pitch with the least chance possible to create an atmosphere.

They should lose, hate their day out and fuck off home!

Thanks for the reply, must try make it over there at some stage, that London is fucking expensive though.

Lol

Hear hear

Meh nothing he said indicates "miles better" there though does it. Padded seats for everyone maybe is the only real plus for me everything else was a bit "meh"(plus is it not still the most expensive ground to go to on average?), not really anything to shout about or impressive there. From what I've heard it's much more of a ball-ache to get to than the Etihad on a bad day too. I suppose a lot of it is personal preference though pre-match and catering quality are better at the Etihad outside toilets and padded seats at the Emirates depends what you look for on your match day.

I took my nephew(a Bradford kid who's dad makes him support Liverpool). He was amazed. You don't appreciate what we have until you take someone who's never been before. You feel like a proud blue telling them about how it was, and showing them what's here now. Only gripe from me is the tour. It's awful and needs the CFA added on sharpish!

Never done it before, went back in Aguero 93:20 after the Villa game for a pint while the traffic went.
About 20 minutes after the whistle,I noticed 2 big different groups of people, similar to what you see in tourist spots abroad, some geezer holding an illuminous flag on a stick and loads following with their cameras flashing like fuck.

I like The Emirates too but IMO it is easier to get away from our ground. Within 20 mins walk of our ground you can be at a major train station. At Arsenal, you are looking at twice that to get to Euston, when you include walking, queuing and tube travel.

As for London grounds, Spurs is the easiest to get away from if you are looking at travelling north. You can get a train from White Hart Lane (the side of the platform) and can be in Bush Hill Park (with free parking available in a nice area) or Enfield Town within 20 mins of leaving your seat. Both areas are on the edge of the M25.

The traffic around Cockfosters is terrible between 2 to 3 hours before KO. I wouldn't recommend it. Much better places to park for games in North London.

Sorry had opposite experiences to yourself, the trains being too full to get on to WHL for the 4-3 game for example. Cockfosters is always 5 mins to the M25, you tend to see no other football fans there on way in, maybe one or two on the way out.

Fair comment there kippax... Remember how away fans had that prime viewing in SS LOWER even our shite club match day camera team homed in on away fans more than home fans.. Then for cup games our fans trying to create an atmosphere got turfed out and away fans got the full end. What other club would do this.. I got involved in the turn around of all this, hard work but paid off and the home fan / away fan situation is far better and showing.

Good thread this, nice to hear how others see our stadium.

Similar to an earlier post on this thread I went to the swamp with work to see customers and did a tour of stadium, I posted on here to say what a mess things are there. What a shock it is from a business point of view regardless of football, how can owners not see the long term money that will be lost which will create a downfall of the club. Best of luck Glaziers carry on the shit work :-)

Imo, the experience should be fantastic for home fans, & 'pretend' welcoming with all the mod cons, but actually an intimidating & miserable experience for away fans & their team, which should be nervous as fuck before they come onto the pitch & struggle to survive. Away fans should be hidden away from the cameras & the pitch & feel uncomfortable in their surroundings. And if they don't like it, they can just fuck off.

If it was, then irrespective of Pellegrini, we would now be top of the league imo.

Everything is going Julie fucking Andrews & I wonder if I should sack it & watch on tv.

Let's build them a caged section in the stand with ice cold air blowing around their feet and rain from sprinklers falling on their heads, with a huge propeller in the corner taking the windchill down to minus 30 degrees.

And while we are at it, let's put them all on the lower tier so we can throw dogshit and bags of piss on them, with the catering staff spitting on their pies as well.

That should make them fuck off!
