Our plastics have arrived!

Utter tosh, I picked you up on your insistence that the public purse should subsidise a private commercial enterprise. I never once suggested Spurs were responsible for who spoke what anywhere, which is a frankly ludicrous intrusion you made into the debate to imply that you deserved extra sympathy or funding from the public because the area has a high number of foreign language speakers. You went on to patronisingly suggest that Manchester city Council were a 'friendly' bunch as opposed to Harringay, which you discerned from your incredibly well informed vantage point in Essex.
You have chosen to participate in a debate amongst City fans about the nature of distant and new supporters by citing a 'friend' of your's as suddenly becoming a City fan, thereby implying the putdown 'City are supported by plastics', whom you claim to despise as opposed to the local fans you claim to support Spurs. Frankly, I don't believe this 'friend' of your's exists.

There is no such person as Lloyd Grossman, there is, however, a Loyd Grossman, an American, who hosted Masterchef prior to it going downhill by employing an Estuary english speaking gobshite.

This whole topic is about plastics leeching onto City, I'm just adding input to it. It's obviously struck a nerve to you. Why would I lie? He's the only plastic City fan I've stumbled across. I have no problem with City at all, they're the most loyal fans in the country. Considering your noisy neighbours have been arrogant and rubbing it in all these years, yet still you got huge crowds in lower divisions speaks volumes.

On the other topic, You said yourself Spurs are part responsible for the place being rundown. Still you don't really answer the question how they have done that? Apart from Googling the Red House which somehow represents the whole place being one of the worst in London. You should PM me really on why that is.

Anyway, this is going off topic and I still stand by that there are plenty of plastic United fans down south.

Here's the answer to your question....

“Local people are angry because we’ve allowed Daniel Levy to buy up 20 acres in Tottenham. The houses are boarded up, the businesses are boarded up and they’re boarded up because we allowed the club to do that precisely because we thought the club was going to build a stadium.
“Now we find out what they actually want to do is sell the area off for housing and use the profits to fund this move to Stratford. I say shame on the current ownership of Tottenham Hotspur for letting down the community and letting down that history.

Thats the Tottenham MP, David Lammy, and as the quote was made outside of parliamentary privilege I'm sure Levy will sue if it's inaccurate, The Redhouse link was there to confirm that an action group had been formed to defend it, the implication is clear.
I'll not bother pm'ing you as I have no wish to foster a private relationship with you and I'm more than happy to defend my interpretation of your motives in public.

It's shite threads like this, that make our club and fans the butt of jokes. If we only had fans from manchester, the sheik would've bought newcastle or everton as he is after a wait for it................................

Global brand.

All those who travel miles to coms, have my utmost respect. I've been very fortunate to never be any more than 25 minutes from the blues.

Lammy is covering his back I'm afraid. They were quite happy to drag their heals for 5-6 years. Now Spurs are interested in the stadium they're crying if they leave.

This corrupt MP is the one that claimed cash for a second home. He's a fraudster

@ skysrblue, my sisters fella used to be at Pitsea, what a rough place that is!

Can I just apologise for taking up tickets at Maine Road for those years, then a season ticket at Coms and away tickets at places like Watford, Preston, Derby etc etc when they should only have been available to those born within the MCC boundary.

Or there again, maybe not.
In the years that I have been travelling over the Irish sea to watch the sky (& even the laser) Blue shirted Heroes, my Northern Irish accent has only been commented on in anything other than a complimentary fashion about twice, and both times from a scrote that knew nothing about football or the history of OUR GREAT CLUB.
The first one decided to sing to me (or at me, with the flag of ST George..., but looked totally bemused when I joined in with No Surrender to the IRA) and the other one was singing about digging up Matt Busby, but when I mentioned that it was a strange way to speak about a former player was totally confused.

Nah, sorry, I have changed my mind, I have been on the coaster for too many downsto get off it when we are on an upward slope.

These threads really do get on my nerves. I do accept that not all City fans do not hold this arrogant view that anybody outside Manchester is some sort of glory fan/ plastic or whatever.
I myself have no ties to Manchester, but I became a City fan some 20 years ago. I didn't want to conform to the usual I will support whoever is winning the trophies lark. Somebody I knew use to mention City, so it got my attention. I started taking an interest and I just loved the fact that here was this team that was painful to watch during the 90's that had this amazing loyal support that never wavered. I just had the utmost respect for that and really in my mind I developed a love for this club that just engulfed me like some sort of uncurable virus, I suppose you could maybe say that City chose me.
I still remember Steve Lomas protecting the ball, thinking a draw was enough to stay up in the top flight in that 2-2 vs Liverpool and feeling heartbroken. I remember beating Stoke 5-2 and going down to the third tier of english football. Dejection didn't come in to it.
I still remember Wembley 99 ( i know who doesn't) Ask my wife who I'd only started going out with back then my reaction when Dickov scored. Blackburn 4-1 away to clinch promotion back to the big time.
Some great players White, Quinn, Kinkladze, Rosler, always liked Peter Beagrie, Dickov, The Goat, Ali B to name but a few. Plenty of shite ones too.
I'll admit I don't go to lots to games, I go to a few with the Mrs, and my daughter when I can afford it. I do wish I could go every week.
I do accept that now as this club is getting bigger and when trophies do come our way, then you are going to attract fans who are jumping on the bandwagon. But we aren't all like that. Please forgive me Bluemooners if this comes across as self-righteous (not my intention). It just riles me the attitude of some people towards non Mancunian City fans.I am CTID whether you fucking like it or not, with or without trophies, mega-rich Arab owners or none!
But I will do something for you people with this attitude.
I shall sit my 9 yr old daughter down (my hard work paid off during Frank's tenure, is that ok?) I shall say to her "Remember that night last year when I let you stay up to watch the League Cup semi-final 2nd leg with me and Rooney scored that winner? Well sweetheart god forbid if something like that should happen again, you shall not sob your heart out because as your emotions and tears are not Mancunian, I must class them as fake and plastic and I shall not be able to console you"

WIth respect, I am a new fan, and let me assure you City are easy Club to get addicted. I cannot wait to come back to Manchester and party with you all again...I came over in November for the Derby and Birmingham City matches. Let me share a couple observations about my visit...Manchester women are stunningly beautiful. So many skirts, and do you remember the wind that week! And Manchester women love American accents. It was either that or my pecs, but I digress. My point is if it comes down to me not adapting all the Mancunisms of English and it offends a few on this forum, or it helps me meet birds at Sinclair's Oyster Bar, I pick the accent for me.

Let me say this, American football playoffs are on, and I am watching Leicester and Millwall, still brooding about the Villa loss--never could have seen this happening two years before world cup. You all are blesses to have a cool city with beautiful women and people in the bars are so fun to drink with, and City are so easy to get truly addicted to. The drama is constant, the hopes so high, and the spectre of 'typical City" always seems to linger at even a small level.

I have not taken a troller to the Faroe Islands, yet, but I cannot wait to have my City stories from around the world...Rest assured you party with me on a City weekend, its on like Donkey Kong...

Besides, when it came to "plastics", everyone seemed to accept my plastic debit card just fine at the pubs around Manchester...but again, I digress. Cheers!

are you sure you went to manchester in england

I would love to share some of my photos, but I am afraid someone's sister may be in a photo, and it could start an international incident...

When I rode the train back from Bredbury to Piccadilly, I shared a ride with 4 beautiful young ladies...3 were City, one was yoonited, but all four were gorgeous. A Student from the Uni took me on a City Centre tour...absolutely wonderful lady. Every pub I went to, I was treated like royalty. The only thing I would change would be the tow nil-nil draws I witnessed...and the Negative aura of the BC match...

I met about 50 Blues in New York when City came over, and maintained email contact with quite a few. When I came over, I met up with a lot of the Blues again, as well as their friends. I am a dues paying member of a OSC. It is so cool to know that when I come over, I already have scores of people waiting to party when I land. All of this is primarily due to City Football. I may not bleed blue yet, for for me, it is City, and no other. Cheers

We used to sing "your the pride of singapore" at the swamp (which was a small minded attitude imo). But now we are gettng to be a worldwide brand ourselves with greater sucess and household name players and its now acceptable

Cant have it both ways

I've lived in the south west for 5 years now. When I first moved down, I was the only city fan in my local which was populated by rags, fake scousers and a few arsenal, spurs and chelsea fans.

5 years later and I am one of 3 City fans. One of them likes City because 'all his mates were rags and he wanted to be different' (fair play), and the other claims to have a gran from altrincham. Neither of them are from Manchester or have ever been to Maine Road (or Coms)

In addition I see more and more posts on here using strange 'isms', like referring to the Premiership as the EPL, and saying 'City is' instead of 'City are'.

I have a feeling that this is the start of a transformation that I guess is inevitable, but I find it hard to stomach because I've been slating rags for it for years.

What are your thoughts on it?

What exactly is a "plastic"?
