Thread to idly speculate about the sorts of people who would have playing for us now, were it not for the Sheikh.

I bet we'd have Peter Crouch, and we would have bought Joey Barton back from the Geordies and Dunnie would still be with us, not to mention Steven Ireland. It does not bear thinking about.

Other than those four, who else might we have?

it certainly shouldn't be taken lightly. I don't think we'd be in the top division, I think every decent player would have been sold in an Ball/Lee style fire-sale and we'd be pissing about in the lower echelons of the championship. We'd be battling it out with clubs like Leeds, Forest and Derby for the most average players in the division.

Jesus, that's depressing reading.

The last three years are a case in point about how human beings can get used to improvements in their lives with almost effortless ease.

The way we all (to some extent) take for granted (in the nicest possible way) the players we have here now is unbelievable really.
