Our resident Scots and Welsh …

I've always had the impression Sturgeon and Drakeford make announcements to keep one step ahead of Boris
I’ve always had the impression that Sturgeon and Drakeford aren’t afraid to make tough decisions and that Johnson (or Boris as you like to call him) is rudderless, bottles most things for the sake of expediency and takes his lead from more decisive leaders

Nobody has got everything right (not even Jacinda). Even Johnson has got some things right if you give him some credit for the vaccine programme. In Scotland, I feel that Sturgeons communication has been pretty good. It feels like she has engaged us as grownups and I support the stuff she has brought in over Christmas. Its only the last week or so that Omicron seems to be less dangerous so she had to react and I think the controls and communication have been more appropriate and better communicated than those in England. I have personal experience of how easily and quickly Omicron is spreading and am still crossing fingers today that our Christmas plans will not have to be cancelled.

Her job is made more difficult when anything she does it mostly dependent on the Treasury to fund as the Scottish Parliament has no powers to borrow money. The first 9 months of the pandemic I would have scored her handling quite high other than the debacle of feeding those with Covid into care homes (also a UK problem). Her weekly communications were a lesson in clarity and detail. There was a fight that her regular appearances were giving her political advantage so coverage has reduced although we still get a Tuesday coverage of her addressing Scottish parliament. The media up here are still pretty pro union so she gets a rougher time than Johnson does with his propaganda machines. She is human, makes mistakes and admits to most of them which buys her some credit with me.
There will be plenty disagree with me and thats fine.
I would mirror everything said here.

One of the things I like most about Sturgeon is that she communicates why certain decisions are being made and the thought processes behind many of them. It's quite easy to think the government are clueless idiots, but she has a skill at explaining situations clearly which make people feel involved, especially when most people feel alienated by politicians.

She undeniably faces a torrent of Murdoch and Tory backed media and editors. Even the state funded BBC have an clear bias. Many of the questions she fields are either trying to bait her or incite anti-nationalism, or come from complete idiots that don't understand the basics of democracy, the most recent asking her why she can't borrow more money. A political journalist. Which she always handles incredibly well. She will also admit when she's wrong and be honest with decisions made without complete information.

Boris on the other hand mumbles nonsense and when he does answer he has lost all credibility due to consistent lying. I would not believe him if he told me water was wet.

Just seen this retweeted, there’s a lot of disgruntled people north of the border….
