Sparked off by a comment about our team now being worth more if we sell them. Value based on what we'd expect to get on an unforced sale for the first team squad players and not including rejects

Can't see anyone paying £28 million for Milner, £12 million for Zaba or £20 million for De Jong.

It's difficult to quote the value of a player because it is dependant on how long is left on their contract. If any player is in his last year of his contract you'd do well to get more than £10 million for him.

A player is only worth as much as the buying club is prepared to pay

If Torres was worth £50M and Carroll £35M then Tevez is worth £60M+, but we won't receive anything like that amount

If Carroll was purchased for £35M, then Adebayor should really be the same, but again, we'll be very lucky to see half that

Edit...
The only true way to value one of our players is to put a price on them of how much it would cost to replace them like for like.
If we went for an equivalent David Silva, do you think we could pick him up for £40M, when Tottenham put a £50m price tag on Modric

I think the thing that comes out of this, is that for some of these players when we signed them their transfer fee's were deemed 'ridiculous' by the media, but now they've gone a way towards justifying their price tags.

For example - Milner, NDJ, Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko, Barry and although he's not fully justified it £24m on lescott isn't looking as bad.

A lot of that is wishful thinking. The fact is in the current market we overpaid for a lot of those players, due to (and quite rightly) our eagerness to establish ourselves before FFP came into affect.

Milner has been excellent this season but no club in the world would pay 28 million for him, or 45 miliion for Silva for that matter. 16 million for De Jong is also highly unlikely, when players like Scott Parker were available for next to nothing.
