It's a forum. I never say a bad word about City or the players at the ground or in the company of opposition fans. But I'll give my opinion unfiltered on here and if my opinion is someone ain't good enough I won't sugar-coat it. The only player I don't have any time for from the current squad is Walker. Pep and the rest have worked miracles over the past few years. I do think our recruitment since the treble season has left a lot to be desired though and it doesn't make you any less of a fan to question it.
The club regularly takes the piss out of its loyal supporters. The Glazer statement on the official page, constant price rises, the simping for Liverpool and criticising our own supporters after they scarred a young girl for life. The lack of support for what our fans went through in Istanbul. The attempt to rinse disabled fans for car parking. Sometimes shit needs calling out and this is the best place to do it.
Sometimes I'll write a shitty post to vent I don't really mean. Who cares?
I think that's fair enough, by and large.
For myself, I'm not “supporting” the team by coming on here and expressing an opinion, negative or positive, and I don't tell myself I am. It's just a forum. It's a place for online discussion. We're not urging on the team on here, unless they come here and read it (and I sort of doubt that). My real, effective, support is elsewhere. I don't speak with disrespect of any City player or the manager, I believe, but I do criticise when I think it's warranted.
I do sometimes see what I consider to be silly opinions on here about Pep, you can't criticise him at all because of what he's done. Well, in the present, I can criticise him all I want if I think it's warranted. As for telling me Pep knows more about football on his little finger than I'll ever know in my life, well actually, I know that. Let's close down the forum then — there's nothing to say, other than worshipping at the altar.
Same goes for any player. Kev, Erling, anyone, if I think they've turned in a rank bad performance in that specific game (or in the last few games). We don't live in the past. And you know what? Pep, and the players, would be the first to agree with that. Even the recent past. It's utterly fantastic that we've done four in a row, I truly can't believe it, that we've done six out of the last seven, that we've won a domestic treble, then a continental treble for good measure. But we're talking about the present.
I wouldn't say what you've said about Walker, to be honest — or put it this way, I wouldn't put it like that, personally — but I do definitely think that he's pretty much over the hill now, for the level that we play at. Whatever he's done in the past. He might come back into form, but I doubt it. It's just time catching up with players.
