Our Timing For Milner

Not really bothered about what disruption it may cause England...

However, as others have said, I'd be loathed to see a repeat of the Lescott/Terry sagas of last summer. Whatever happens, if there's no agreement by next week, we should move on to other targets...

My God the holiday must be doing you good, a rational post with no underlying issues burning through.
I even agree with your perspective, but think Villa are a different kettle of fish to Everton, they will have there price and will either get it or he wont move, I can't see O'neil bleating to the sun about not getting a phone call of Mancini

Some posters are talking bull though with his agents trying to push the deal through given that he doesnt have an agent.

Definitely, and it would be nice to have most, if not all, of our buys wrapped up before pre-season so we're not dicking about in September, as usual.

I think is pretty poor and we do ourselves no favours.
This bid should of been submitted the day after the West Ham game and taken from there.
Our publicity need to be improved and this has not helped.
Milner should be away with England now being a City player and not have transfer speculation hanging over him going into the WC.

come off it milner would of knew about our interest for a while and would have either said to his agent yeah sort it out i'l go there or no thanks i'm happy at villa either way you sort it so i can concentrate on the world cup but my feeling is that we are using this as a smoke screen to a bigger deal that we are trying to keep out of the press would'nt be surprised if we don't go back in for him <my opininon>

were gonna get shit either way so who gives a fuck?

Fuck the World Cup, Fuck England there is more chance of Greece winning it, it is Manchester City that matters and we are doing the right thing by getting in there early and starting negotiations.

I can't believe how many people swallow the media bull shit, the guy is a professional footballer it is not going to 'affect' him one jot, its just another example of the Manchester City hate club in action.

I don't agree. Milner is a big boy and should be able to cope with work issues such as choosing whether to change job or not while continuing to work professionally at the standard required. That's what ordinary people do all the time so why is Milner different?

This. Tough choices...do I play here and be a multi millionaire, or play there and be a multi multi millionaire?

I'm sure he's just fine.

I can see it now. Manchester City lost us the world cup!

No one likes us, we don't care IMO.
^ this

Just like Everton blamed us for everything, if England don't win the World Cup it will be our fault. If Milner doesn't get picked for the squad or doesn't get to play a game it will be our fault (you can hear O'Neil now coming out with his "I'm just disappointed for the boy, they unsettled him".

We'll also be accused of not settling the futures of Hart and SWP and messing up their form. If Gerrard has a poor world cup then that;s coz he's been linked with us. Brazil will blame us for Robinho no longer being the world star he claims he was. At the end of the day it's all spin and finger pointing and I as long as it's right for City then I don't give a toss what they say.

I'm with you on this I think it's another RED herring, bump up pricing and go for somebody else.

A lot of people on here are missing the main point that i am making..
Why couldnt we have made this bid 2 weeks ago ?
We do it when he's part of a England squad out of the country that he MAY be involved in this year.
I can see if this gets into a fight between Villa and us over price etc... That Capello could quite likelly not take him to to the WC if its going to be a distraction.
At present he is only part of the preliminary squad.
This could and should of been sorted out before now for Milners sake more than anyones.

This isn't even an issue.

What's he going to be worrying about? Whether he stays at Villa or goes to City with a massive wage rise? Hardly the stuff of nightmares.

Dont buy into this messing with head lark, its bull dont fall for the usual bilge. We need to have learnt our lesson, JL prime example. If we bid for Prem player we have to make sure the clubs know its a once only offer, then these clubs will think twice about rejecting a bid. We paid 12 mill for GB who was a more established England player than Milner is now so i say move on City, we have to be careful buying Prem players as this enables those clubs to strengthen too much from the sale of 1 player

Capello will take him, don't worry about that.
