Is like a Aston Martin that has the an old cassette player, a broken air con system and beaded seats.

Basically it looks fantastic but the content is substandard IMO. These faults may not be the end of the world but they are all simple to rectify and they make the website look poor.

The season has started and all of the players are pictured in last season's shirts - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Players/Midfielders/David-Silva" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Players/Midfielders/David-Silva</a> and Weiss is in the season's before - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Players/Midfielders/Vladimir-Weiss" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/Players/Midfielde ... imir-Weiss</a>

Apparently we played Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend - <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/fixtures?showall=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/fixtures?showall=1</a>

Why have they stopped allowing you to pick your seat on the website? it just randomly picks one for you, if this was in place last year i wouldn't have gone to many cup games, it puts people off.

Who plays for the EDS? Who plays for the Academy? When do they play? How did they play? Where is this info?? we are the only club in the top two divisions to not have a single profile on any of the non first team players. Very poor. What happened to the highlights of the EDS and Academy games? There's a daily article on what the papers say about us but not even a weekly article on something far more important and interesting.

Now we have this fancy clever card thing and a flashy match countdown clock when they should be getting the other more important stuff in order.

Fantastic design but the content (which is the most important thing for a website) needs improving ten fold IMO.

and before anyone says "why don't you contact the club about this instead of putting it on here" i would do but it seems it would be a waste of time as people on here don't get their e-mails answered.

(another) and please don't say i'm moaning for moaning's sake, Manchester City is far from perfect and i think these are valid points.

In regards to the shirt photo's, didn't they take new photo's? I'm sure there was a vid about a photo shoot or something? It is weird though, it's not annoying or irritating so much as the fact it's just...There...

The seat planner apparently won't be available until after the problem with season cards and blue cards is finished according to a guy at the ticket office. I don't know why but that's what I was told, I found it a pain in the arse also and as a result got 2 seats nowhere near each other, thankfully it wont be like this forever.

The EDS vids are always late coming up on the website aren't they? Even last season they would play a game and be on the site 3 days later or so. That is however the bit I find slightly annoying. I would love to know about our EDS players and how they're progressing with a weekly report of some sort, because to me it's important to learn more about our future potential stars. I'm sure they did have an option for the EDS but it disappeared.

I don't think it's poorly run, I do however think parts of it are neglected and obviously put off until it becomes a priority to do it, I mean depending on coding it may well take a while to input each players new bio's and pictures. It could be under way as a draft but not yet finished. Look at how fast the Aguero news and videos became available compared to other things though.

I still love the site, the content as a whole is very good disregarding the few niggling things above

I've found out that a lot of the clerical errors "Scores appearing wrong, names messed up etc." are thanks to Opta Stats who put together all that stuff.

Even though we have fan-sites for our EDS it would be nice to get some more official content on it, I reckon our player photos will be updated soon because they did the 3D shoot for Sky last week.

The club website seems to be fixated on being modern and cool at the expense of real substance.

Underneath the new riches and flashiness of the club is the same old soul and fanbase of largely working class fans with a strong emotional attachment to the club, so the neglect of things like the EDS is very disappointing as I think many fans would be more interested in reading about Joan Roman's recent double (or better yet, seeing it quickly or even streamed live) than reading about the WICKED AWESOME COOL events at City Square or what our glory hunters on Facebook think.

And yeah, a lot of basic errors on the results/fixtures page have appeared lately, like the LA Galaxy result not appearing until someone on Twitter told the guy over a week later, and us having lost to Manchester City in the Community Shield that still hasn't been fixed! I've seen these mistakes several times already as a casual viewer of the site, how could one of the web team not have? The fixtures/results page is probably one of the most visited on the site.

Funny thing is..I´ve never been that attached to our homegrown players and prefer to take note of them when they are subbed in during a 6-0 win against some no hope team in a friendly.

That said the site is confusing and byzantine at best.

No you're not wrong to complain. The way it looks is fantastic, there's no better website. But you're correct, a lot of the content is sub standard. Sometimes poor English is used; sometimes really awfully cheesy jokes or quips are used; sometimes your left wondering 'what else' as the info given is a little vague; they do talk more about 'what the papers say' than any sort of details on the Academy or EDS; I'd like to know a lot more info about our first team players too, not just what is in their fridge, but I'd like to know training statistics (height, weight, 60m sprint times, bleep test scores, what people can bench or squat...) and match statistics (distances covered, passing percentages, tackles made/won...).

There are some things that City seem to be putting huge emphasis on and it's not needed, and other things that could be a lot better are being ignored.

the inability to chose your exact seat when booking home tickets on line is a major step back and as the op said will put many people off

being told you will get the "best available seat" in a particular block is not good enough - all it means is they will give you the seats no-one else wants

if we could chose a particular seat last season and indeed before that, why not now? I thought technology was advancing but perhaps not where our ticket office is concerned

Our website is far better quality than lots of other premier league sides, just having all those videos available to watch for free is something that you don't get in many other places.

I think it is cool, it does run very efficiently. Loads more content would be cool. It updates but not that much ... a squad selector function would be cool so all the managers out there (me included) could play at Mancini for a day.

No gripes tho' ... way better than most others.

The website has come a long long way since it first opened and I am quite pleased with it, having said that it could do with more features with the youth team and maybe more match streaming for the EDS

It's impossible for them to give everyone the "best available seat", because different people want different things. E.g some people might prefer a front row seat whereas others might want to be nearer the back for a quick exit. The original seat planner was great but the new one is shit

I think the website is good, but the op makes some very good points

The guys who run City's website have seen this thread, and hopefully one of them is going to comment on it soon to talk about the site a bit

The only thing I want back is the ability to choose my own seat.

The best seat in the house is the seat I choose and jump up from when we smash the ball home.

Bring back the old ticket site please :)

The OP makes good points ..... and for those who use the iPhone App they will be pleased to know that City beat United by 3-2 ... and it was like that all through the game.

Other than that I think the City OS is fantastic resource but the app was not good VFM even though it was only £2.49

Come on City

If i am going to criticise the club then it's only fair i praise them for something i have criticised them for.

We have now been beaten by Manchester United in the community shield and excellent highlights of the EDS win v Oldham last night. Keep it up City.

have you ran out of wool ?

It's got it's glitches, but it is at least unique, and doesn't use the same platform as a lot of league teams. I had a look at Swansea's earlier and it's virtually the same as Stoke's , whereas the OS has got it's own identity, the foibles are part of that.
