Just wanted to give you a shout on the contribution to the thread. Cheers. I've been following the lad and he's been something of a dream signing for me. He just seems like he has 'it'. I never imagined we'd be able to pull it out and regretted even being to linked to him because I didn't want my hopes to get shot down. You've been spot on all along so I'm curious if you think we'll actually pull this off and if you think he could come in and break into the squad in january? It's obviously a guessing game on your part but how do you envision this going?

Thank you. I felt the same way and still don't want to get my hopes up too much. I had convinced myself he would head to Inter but it looks like the first big Pep factor moment that could change the course of our history for the better. This could be that new Aguero moment that we've all been wanting. I really hope we can complete this deal. But absolutely I think Fernandinho and if Fernando is still around can help him settle in, he's extremely dedicated and motivated to be the best. I've been impressed with him not wanting to be in the shadows of Neymar and wanting to be his own player, Pep is the perfect one to manage him and take his game to new heights. He gives us more flexibility out wide or he could be turned into a false 9. His movement on and off the ball is great for his age and he scores every which way. This move to me, is more exciting than Pogba!!
I'm in the top 1% of Jesus fans. seriously. I'll share one of a few PM's that I've had with @MillionDollarDream because he was my go to guy all along during that transfer. He knows shit. Seriously.

I guess the point being that we can spot talent? I feel like that grass is greener was harsh on me though.
Maybe you do know how to spot talent but I don't quite get what that adds to your argument to be honest, just because you like Jesus too doesn't add any weight to your assertions who will become the better player(it would be silly of anyone to be too sure of themselves with that at this point... the begining). As I said I like Osumane too, I would be happy if we signed him(was saying as much during last season) and he is probably further along in his development but not the finished article either and has his weaknesses especially compared to Jesus(different players to be fair).

With both Jesus even before we were linked to him and Osumane in his early days at BVB they had plenty of hype around them it wasn't some talent that anyone on here unearthed on their own so lets not be pretending anyone is the authority on the matter. I think I reasoned my case well and backed it up with a summary derived from statistical data(the img link), I've seen enough of him I think along with reading some expert analysis from squawka and the likes to form my own valid opinion on the matter. Did you disagree with anything I said in my summary?

With regards to the magic wearing off when they are your player, I think you misunderstood, I wasn't mocking you personally it's just human nature(you see that they are human afterall or they are young and have plenty to work on to reach the very top). It's already happened with Sterling, Sané and now Jesus to varying degrees not that anyone thinks they are bad players(well with Sterling he can't get a break from some but that's different) and I'm quite sure Dembélé will be no different or any other young player(Mbappé for instance) who is not the finished article(they never are that's why they need good coaching).

I wouldn't say he was absolutely top shelf, potential to be yes. We have enough top players in his position to not need to buy him for that money
He's world's top 3 attacking talent, on par with Mbappe and (hopefully) Jesus, he's going to be as good as Neymar or even better. The problem with such players is that they become untransferrable once a top club picks them up. And no, we don't have 'top players in his position' (what do you mean by his position? the guy plays literally everywhere). Sane is still tactically inept though slowly improving, Sterling's lack of confidence and poor finishing were discussed multiple times. KdB loses the ball every second time he gets it. Aguero is in decline and needs 5 chances to score 1 goal.

So, if you think our squad is already good enough, check the results of 16/17 CL in case you've forgotten it. Or, better, rewatch the games. Did we play in the final? Semis? Maybe quarters? Who's to blame? Pep, Clichy and Kolarov? The players were not good enough. If the objective is to win the CL, the club should be on par with the best.

Jesus' transfer was unique, one-off deal, it's pointless to use it as an example of good transfer policy, we won't repeat it in the near future.

He's not a striker though, he finished with a goal tally in the league comparable to both Sané and Sterling(Sterling with the most, 1 or 2 goals max between them) but his shot accuracy was actually lower overall than both. Add to the mix the fact that teams set up far more defensively against us(which new players quickly find out) and I think some are overselling what he offers. His assists, chance creation, pace and dribbling ability are where he seems to be offering more right now. I actually did a comparison just now to see if his two footedness advantage translates over in the stats but Sterling actually surprises me by matching him on that.

He's nowhere near Neymar. But he might the player of that range at some time. Plus it's never guaranteed he'll fit with Messi and Suarez like Neymar did. 3 of them looked like telepathically connected at times.
