Over-playing

I just watched the MOTD highlights so don't hate me if I got something wrong because I haven't watched the match...

My observation was that there were no real crosses, Dzeko has missed a lot but no real cross was put in the box, no sharp cross was put in the box....if playing dzeko then clichy and richards who have the pace to overlap and put in a sharp ball across is the thing to do...and play aguero with him...alone, with kolarov shooting wildly and johno cutting inside can't do it against a packed defence...hence it seems overplayed, jammed in the middle passing it too many times along the back four simply because there is no width, no one to pass to outside, and dzeko isn't quick enough on his toes to walk through a 8 man defence...

so the overplaying is actually the consequence of the lack of width, ie manager's rotation and squad selection...

Weve been doing it all season. We need to take more shots earlier especially from outside the box.

I agree. How come the fans can see what we need to break teams down and not the management?!

We weren't over playing when we were banging in loads of goals. Instead of specultive efforts, you try and wait for a mistake from the opposition, then create a clear cut chance. I'm all for a long range effort too draw out the defence now and again, but as a whole, I think we are playing the right kind of football.

Look at Barca, patients is a virtue, let's not become philistines just because of 2 off results during a busy period.

Agree that two bad (not off) results doesn't mean a great deal but Barca we are not. Yes, let's be patient but not when we don't score. We can expect plenty of teams to put 11 behind the ball but we don't seem to have the answer at the moment. We have a team full of superstars (judging by what we paid for them) but no one is stepping up with that bit of magic that wins games. However, nothing that can't be sorted by spanking the dippers and the rags over the next week.
