Was getting the scores on the BBC thread yesterday, and it was waxing gloriously about Everton's 2nd and 3rd goals. Allegedly Neville's was a wonder goal, and Bilyaletdinov's was a goal of the season contender. Just saw them both on MOTD, and to be honest I think the BBC should be prosecuted for going way, way over the top. Neville's was a decent goal, but certainly not as good as they made out. Bilyaletdinov's was a cracker, but certainly not goal of the season stuff (yes, I would say it if it was Silva). It seems the BBC have caught the Sky disease of over hyping everything.

However, my vote for the most overrated ever goal was Ronaldo's free kick for the Rags when Ferguson said it was the greatest free kick he'd ever seen - and lo and behold if the press didn't just lap it all up.....

Going OTT fits well on a fan's forum:)

that giggs one in the semi final, wank bad defending and he lost control off the ball 2 or 3 times and he just kept getting the bounce of the ball off the defenders legs back to him, plus i fckin hate the illegitimate twat

The Giggs wonder goal against Arsenal is the most overrated. Not one decent challenge and a keeper that arched his back and jumped into the air instead of standing tall and saving a shot straight at him.

Kinkladze v Southampton.

Went past about 5 players, of which 4 didn't put a challenge in and the fifth attempted a half hearted tackle, then the keeper went to ground too early making it even easier than running past the almost non existent defenders to score.

Berbatovs 4th against an already beaten Blackburn that won goal of the month.
But the most overrated goal of all time is Brazil's 4th in the 1970 World Cup final. Scored in near enough the last minute of extra time when they were already 3-1 up in a game that was played at altitude in 34 degrees heat. The Italians had long since thrown the towel in. It was like a training goal.

Exactly my point on Kinkladze v Southampton, almost identical.

Ricky Vila's in '81. Not one decent challene on him from a bunch of tired statues in defence. Plus, he broke my heart!

This ^. Steve Mackenzie's was a far better goal.

People say Villa beat the whole City defence - he did not

They also say he went back and beat them again - another lie

If you actually look he rode one tackle and then slipped it under Big Joe. About on a par with Tommy Hutch's first goal in the first game imo. Good but not great.

Rooney's overhead kick this season. He hit it with his shin. Alson hughes' against us in the 5-1. City's fifth was a miles better goal yet never gets shown.
