Owen Coyle

Coyle is good for the likes of Bolton. He is currently got them over achieving. They shouldn't be the 6th best team in the country but according to the league they are. I will say with some confidence he will never end up at Scum, Chelsea, Arsenal, Us or Spurs. Why? Because he isn't up to what these clubs are trying to achieve. He will never manage a CL team.

Is that still your belief? He has shown all the qualities of a manager too good for the likes of Bolton. Look at the hype around Moyes, some think he'll take over after baconface, what's he done? If he can be considered so good then surely so can Coyle, who has done a far better job with a much weaker side, people seem to forget just how awful Bolton were. Then there's the outstanding job he did at Burnley. He's been a huge success. If Hodgson can get the Liverpool gig Coyle can definitely do better than Bolton.

If Hughes was worth a punt Coyle most certainly is.

Our owners didn't take a punt on Hughes though. He was already in the job when they took over. He was the last Owen Coyle, finishing 5th with Blackburn, and he didn't exactly do a brilliant job here. Finished lower in the table and with less points. It's also worth noting that all his good signings are playing much better under Mancini, who's undoubtedly good in the coaching department. I'd give Mancini another season regardless of what happens - and the odds are in our favour to win the FA Cup and finish 4th and that'll do for me. It took a couple of years with Inter too but he built from the back and built a good side that won three titles and then became European champions under Mourinho, who is the only person I'd replace him with right now and even then it would be with unease. We'd have to rebuild again and Mourinho would probably swan off in a few years, possibly with a humiliating move to Old Trafford. I much prefer Mancini as a man too.

C'mon guys - do you see Coyle going a whole season unbeaten? Because that's the demand from Bluemoon these days - any dropped points and the board goes into a hysterical knicker-wetting meltdown.

The expectations from most fans now would suggest that a replacement for Mancini could only come from Guardiola, Mourinho and, er...

I like him, he has presence, and he clearly knows what he's doing. Today was a re-run of the Copa Del Rey.

Their remaining fixtures look pretty winnable. If he finishes above Spurs I think that, morally, we would have no choice but to give him the job.

What a load of patronising shite. We've been back in the Premier League for over a decade. If we finish in the top half this season it will be the fifth season that we have done so. Not to mention reaching a League Cup final, an F.A. Cup semi-final and competing in two consecutive UEFA Cup campaigns. There aren't many teams in the Premier League outside of the top six who have a record like that.

Said it here a few weeks back this man is the real deal. Did a great job with Burnley and look what's happened to them since. Has been fantastic at Bolton, his sides are well organized and play good attacking football. He's now premier league proven and could do wonders with the resources. IF RM was to go I'd have him.

I agree. He strikes as a David Moyes type manager.

Tactically astute, well organised teams and he takes good players and improves them.

I'm not sure I would want him as a replacement for RM. I'd rather have Sven back.

If he ends up City manager in the next decade we might as well all pack up and go home. We have been through this all before with the likes of Frank Clarke, Joe Royle and Hughes. Managers that have done a decent job at other clubs on a budget who we hoped would be able to come in and perform miracles to awaken the sleeping giant. Went well didnt it?

Coyle at this moment in time is at his level and we should not be the team that takes a chance on him, let someone else do that and if he proves his worth on the bigger stage elsewhere then by all means if we are looking for a new manager in 10 years time he might be one to consider.
