Owen Hargreaves struggling to make World Cup finals

Good player is Hargreaves. When he stops playing hide and seek that is. As for him being thge best in the 2006 squad, it wasn't that hard. We were shite.

It wasn't hard - but he's one of the biggest cases of rewritten history around.

Sven got criticism for picking him in the first place and he got almost no positive press right up until the final match. He played a blinder for the last 30 minutes when everyone else was dead on their feet, scored a penalty when the big guns failed, and all of a sudden he was the new messiah. Once he signed for United it passed into law that he had been the star of the tournament and now it's a big blow he isn't coming.

I like him as a player, and think he would have been a big England player if it wasn't for injuries (didn't he last about 15 minutes in WC 2002?) - but he was a bit part player for England till those 30 minutes against Portugal and has hardly played since.

Again, I bit unfair. I thought he was probably England's best player in the entire tournament and not just the Quarter Final, that was just his best performance in the tournament.
