i think the transfer is dead now and we issued a statement to try and stop us being slated again for being turned down which will probably fail. No doubt eto will now state he was never interested and people will continue to have a go.
Unfortunately, I can see this happening too

I'm 70% certain that we will still sign Eto'o.

Patience is a vurtie. It also shits people up when you have lots of money.

I would agree, except it became pretty clear when Eto'o demanded the loyalty fee from Barca that he really doesn't want to come to us. I'd far prefer that we sign players who are actually going to enjoy it here. To me it's about a 5% that he will join us - that's if Barca fail to find any other teams willing to sign him (most likely), come back to us with a better offer (probable) and manage to sort out the loyalty payment (really not likely, Barca are struggling badly on this issue and it's pretty obvious we aren't going to jump through hoops to solve it for them). I think it's far more likely we'll find some other target and Barca will be left high and dry. Eto'o will get his free transfer next year.

Highly likely and most probable. The simplest answer is usually the correct one.

Top class on GC part, it shows the football world that we're not to be messed with. I think Barca/Eto'o will come back.

City being slated will displease you. You are consistent.

If Garry Cook's come out in public and stated we've pulled out, surely thats enough for you to realise that we won't be going back after him? I like your optimism, I wish I could have the same feeling about it, but as soon as that damn loyalty payment was brought up, I just knew that things were going to complicate too much, and it wouldn't be worth the hassle, despite Eto'o being a great player.

Me too, if not 99% sure

I think we've had enough percentages quoted about this deal for everyone's liking...

Oh, go on then, ... I make it about a 3% chance he'll come to City now.

We really need champs league football. That will really send us into the big time. All the negative comments from the media seem to focus on that.We have already shown our intent with the offer for kaka.ADUG are not messing about.Once we get champs league we are in.So it's over to Mr Hughes.

Do not understand why people still think Eto'o will come, well i do as the theory makes sense but for the first time in a while instead of an "ITK" we have official confirmation of the deal and what's happened. I think there is about 0% chance because thats what City have said why would they risk potentially a great player coming? They must have know that he was going to reject us or the deal wasn't ever going to happen in time for the squad to jell and have a pre season together. Ever think that if us the fans didn't get so impatient and wanting us to sign someone day in day out that we may still be there waiting? I honestly cant see that they will listen to us but if they read anything on here recently they will know that the fans were getting impatient and now have decided to pursue a lesser target just to get someone in.

ok now lets all calm down.
we have just pulled the plug on sammy..word being WE.

NOW LETS LOOK AT THE BIG PIC.
why have WE pulled the plug?
sam has tried to play us against Barca....failed
khalldoon sits and waits.......give him 48 hrs
about 20 hrs into that we say bollox had enough
will Barca panic?....you can bet your arse they will (mend bridges in april/may coz of money we have)
IF eto'o goes to rags how will Barca explain that?...bad move imo
will WE pull out of a deal on this size?...history says yes lickle city
WE pulled the plug.....do you all really think that from the top shiek mansour, khaldoon,GC,MH
havent got something else sorted or in the pipeline?
the last 10 months and what is happening outside our stadium next weekend should tell you
we have grown up a bit from ickle city

in them at least i trust

This is how i see it ( i'm probably wrong but still...)
Eto'o wanted higher wages from Barca,
Barca refused to budge, Eto'o shows interest in City who've lodge a bid.
Eto'o uses City as a way of making Barca offer higher wages,
Barca do but it's still not enough
Eto'o waits for Barca to increase their offer,
Barca call Eto'os bluff
City get fed up with waiting for a decision and move on to other targets.

He did say, had a contract not been agreed with Barca he'd have been delighted to come to us.
